If you consider yourself a lover of the deeper strains of house, Tevo Howard is no doubt already on your radar. This month, the DJ-turned-producer is making his maiden voyage to Australia, bringing an analogue live set-up that’ll warm the hearts of gear lovers and dancers alike. With the first show happening in Sydney this weekend, the good people at Future Classic have passed on this exclusive Tevo Howard mix to us.

This time, the exclusive mix is a bit of a throwback – recorded live at one of Howard’s DJ gigs. “This is one of my favourite sets, spun in July 2005 at a very hot party for my friend Regge,” he tells inthemix. “The announcer at the beginning of the set thought that the first track was a reggae track, and thus, set the microphone down when he realised it was not. Proven, this set is first half house, and last half Neuwave.”

The Chicago native is certainly on a winning streak in the studio at the moment. For many his definitive record so far has been The Age Of Compassion, made at the request of Ben Watt for Buzzin’ Fly. Howard also worked with Watt’s other half, Tracey Thorn, on the perfectly-pitched Without Me.

House aficionados have also sung the praises of Howard’s collaborations with his father Rick, notably on About Fourteen and I Won’t Lay Back. “I write tracks, and my father kills the vocal outstandingly every time,” enthuses Howard. “In fact we were just in the studio a couple of days ago, and that is what happened. We were only there one hour and recorded two tracks.”

Without further ado, in the words on the man himself: “Please enjoy this very high energy mix.” Then make sure you catch him doing his thing live in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
