We’ve heard plenty of talk in recent months about the dance music boom in Las Vegas, with a host of the world’s leading DJs setting up residencies in the city of sin. One of the flagship venues for all-out Vegas partying is Marquee, an extravagant pool club by day that continues to heave after dark.
Throughout July, Marquee will host Sebastian Ingrosso, Erick Morillo and Kaskade to name just a few. For the last pool party of the month on Saturday 30 they’ve got high-flying producer Chris Lake – which brings us to this hot-off-the-presses mix, passed over to ITM HQ from the people at Marquee.
Listing his production style as ‘house, tech-house, electronica, progressive’, Lake has been a firm favourite in Australia over the years. His last visit was for We Love Sounds and Winter Sound System in 2009. In 2011 he’s been focused on his Rising Music label, turning out Colours alongside Nelski and his standalone Secrets in the Dark.
Lake’s upcoming gig schedule is jam-packed, including regular stints at Cream in Ibiza over the season. North America in particular seems to be getting behind his sound, making the Marquee date a perfect fit. Is it time to start hassling him to get back to Australia? Listen to this mix, recorded this month, and make your mind up.
