With Sydney identities Amber Savage, Helena and Gabby kicking off our She Can DJ series, it’s time to go to Melbourne with Rachel Andrews. Juggling her passion for DJing and producing with a law career, Andrews has got the multi-tasking thing mastered. Having begun her career in Canberra before relocating to Melbourne, the in-demand selector favours vocal house and progressive records.

Having to condense her sound into a 20-minute mix for the She Can DJ submission proved a challenge for Andrews (luckily she’s working with an hour for ITM-FM). “The entry mix was hard, because I play house and progressive house, so a 20-minute mix could be three tracks,” she laughs. “That mix started off with an uplifting vocal house track and then got heavier and deeper, and that’s how my sets usually go.”
