One of the rising stars of the Cadenza family, Ernesto Ferreyra is heading to Australia soon for the Spring Music Lawn Party in Sydney. After a long summer with regular dispatches to Ibiza, you can expect his record bag to be well-stocked. With the party drawing closer, Ferreyra passed this mix over to inthemix and answered some quick questions for us.

The Cadenza residency at Ushuaia Beach Club in Ibiza looked amazing this year, as well as Vagabundos at Pacha of course. Has there been any particular highlight for you this season?
Yes, for sure. This season was one for the books! Vagabundos at Pacha was a rock solid success being sold out for the most part of the summer and Vagabundos at Ushuaia the spot and the party that got everybody talking. It’s hard to think of just one particular moment, but I remember the set I did at the opening of Ushuaia in front of more that 8,000 happy souls to be one of the best moments of my summer.

You’re a dedicated vinyl DJ – what do you love about playing records?
Everything! The incomparable sound, the artwork, the weight, the funny things that sometimes are written on the centre, their smell, the process that involve making one, the great tradition of going to the record shop every week, meeting up with friends, sharing hidden gems with other DJs, getting your hands dirty searching for unknown bombs in the one-dollar crates.

I feel very proud of this. I was born surrounded by records so I can’t imagine my life with out them. Even if nowadays airlines and bad clubs are making it more and more difficult for vinyl DJs like me. I don’t care. I will carry them until the end. Not long ago, a colleague who plays with a laptop told me that I was fighting the wrong battle. But this is not a battle, it’s just a lifestyle .

What’s next for you production-wise? Is there another album in the works?
Now that the season is over I will be back on track in the studio. I have new material that needs to be finished in order to release some new EPs, remixes and also collaborations and yes, I’m already thinking on a new idea for the next album.

Can you tell us about the DJ mix that you are sharing with inthemix?
It is a special mix that I did for you at home to share just a little bit of what I will be playing soon in Sydney. I really can’t wait to be there!
