To celebrate our favourite time of the year, inthemix is about to set off on a cross-country trip for the inthemix Summer Series of parties. Heading up the tour is a triple-threat of local talent: Anna Lunoe, Wax Motif and The Only. As the party hits the road, we’ve secured this exclusive mix from Wax Motif to help loosen up your limbs. We also threw the fast-rising producer some questions.

2011 was a big year for you, production-wise. What’s in the pipeline for this year?
At the moment I’m working on a compilation for a fairly well known international label which is taking up a big chunk of time. Probably shouldn’t mention more for now but I’ll definitely let the news slip when the time is right. Release wise, I’ve got a follow up with Anna Lunoe on the way and collabs with Tommy Trash, Oliver $, Yolanda Be Cool, Solo and Mowgli. Some remixes too! One for Oliver on Kitsune just went out and one for fRew on One Love should be out pretty soon.

As someone who tours the country pretty heavily, what kind of changes have you noticed on the club scene? Do you see less loyalty to weekly club nights?
Less turntables! It’s hard to notice specific changes unless you’re in the same club every week but yeah in general less loyalty for sure. The numbers going to clubs nowadays don’t seem to be as strong and there is more of a lust for bigger events.

As a DJ, what kind of sounds/labels/producers are really exciting you at the moment?
It’s a pretty varied mix! At the moment I’m really into Tommy Trash, Nicky Romero, Solo’s label Congaloid, Tim Green’s new track on Get Physical, Eric Prydz’s remix of M83 and M83 in general, Azari & III, Maceo Plex, and this new track from Burns and NT89, Attack.

Love Ting saw you teaming up with Anna Lunoe, and you’re no stranger to collabs. Do you think you’d find it pretty limited if you only worked on music solo?
Yes, definitely. I spend a lot of time making music so in comparison the time collabing is only a portion of that. It’s a really cool way to rejuvenate my enthusiasm for it and you can always learn something new from watching how someone else does things; like what they do to their kick or how loud they leave their claps.
They seem like minor irrelevant details, but it all adds up.

You’re hitting the road very soon for the inthemix Summer Series tour. Anything in particular you’re looking forward to trying out on this tour?
Yeah, I’m gonna try and play some deeper music here and there. Its time Australia got in on more deepness. Also looking forward to watching Anna Lunoe sing a whole lot more!
