Chicago veteran Derrick Carter is no stranger to our dancefloors, and he’s back in January to bring some jack to our Australia Day celebrations. The house king is hitting Switch in Sydney for an intimate club set before flying to Melbourne for the Harbourside 2012 celebrations. To get us limbered up, the man has passed this mix over to ITM-FM, recorded live at a club show earlier this month.
2011 was another busy year for Derrick Carter, taking his always party-ready box of tunes to many hotspots around the world. The year began with his Fabric 56 volume, which came laden with the bompty bass, vocal grabs and relentless groove he’s made his hallmark. Carter and Luke Solomon also relaunched their Classic Music imprint in February, remastering and digitally re-releasing the entire back catalogue. Classic also kicked off a new mix series highlighting its extensive legacy, with Matt Tolfrey at the controls of the first edition. Carter’s main focus, though, has been on the clubs (and the occasional festival), so expect a body-moving house education this month.
