Fingertips is not only at the forefront of the Australian indie DJ circuit, she’s also previously been known as the fierce frontwoman of the indie outfit of the same name. Having re-worked her stage persona to incorporate an all-consuming love of hip-hop, dancehall and grime, whilst still maintaining a quintessential pop edge, Fingertips is inspired by badass femcees like Roxanne Shante, Iggy Azalea, M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj. One of the few DJ’s this year with an edge on the competition as a vocalist as well, Fingertips blends jazz-trained vocals with dirty beats and mad rhymes to produce a fresh sound entirely of its own ilk.

Originally from Adelaide, Fingertips got her big break in the DJ scene after a promoter heard her hosting a local radio show. He gave her a residency, and the rest is history. “I had no idea what I was doing. I rocked up with my box of CDs & records and got a crash course from the guys from Wolf & Cub who were on before me. I had so much fun that night and every week I played there I knew that I’d lucked onto something good. I’ve never looked back!”

Since then, Fingertips has shared the stage with artists like Vampire Weekend, Art vs Science, Snob Scrilla, Hoops, Ladyhawke, The Vengaboys and Aqua, as well as playing to crowds at her residencies with Plus One, Teen Spirit and MUM, and events like Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week and Tiger Street Soccer Carnival.

And with nine other talented DJs to contend with, what’s the one thing Fingertips wants the judges to know? Well, kid – it’s all about the range. “Whilst DJing is a huge passion, I’m working towards establishing myself as a writer/performer. I write every day and have been lucky enough to collaborate with a lot of amazing artists/producers.”
