DJ NAME: Girl Audio
NAME: Erin Roberts
GENRE: Electro House, Complextro
HOMETOWN: Melbourne

First hitting the decks back in 2009, Girl Audio was immediately inspired to start producing. Since then, this impressive up-and-comer has picked up numerous residencies and released a couple of great remixes including Angger DimasRelease Me and a collaboration remix with Vandalism of their track Coming Alive. But her meteoric rise didn’t stop there.

Her first single I Like The Bass was released mid-2011 on Plasmapool and hit the heady heights of #1 in the Electro House charts on TrackItDown. Then, to top off an already incredible year, at the end of 2011 Girl Audio’s EP (collaborating with Melbourne vocalist eM) saw two more tracks, Telephone and Fuck It, hit the top 20. Also that year, it was her penchant for entertaining her crowd that saw her take out second position in the Melbourne Your Shot competition in 2011, coming second overall from over 1000 entrants.

All this hype has made She Can DJ the perfect competition for this bundle of electro house energy. “After seeing the 2011 competition unfold, SCDJ really stood out as an incredible opportunity for us girls to be given a fair go. This competition is really amazing, so thank you for the wonderful opportunity you’ve provided. I’m thrilled to be a part of it and no matter what the outcome is, what I will take away from this competition is invaluable.”

Complextro 140 up, 65 down

Deriving its influences from Heavy basslines of dubstep, electro house, and fidget house, Complextro is a genre that rose during the latter half of 2010 and is usually credited to SebastiAn. The word form comes from complex, and electro, combining to form "complextro". Typically the tempo is a faster 140+ BPM, and the beats may or may not be syncopated, appearing almost as a break-style. Along with that, this genre is typified by heavy basslines and glitchy vocal, and or synth samples, but also by complex additive synthesis(usually 8+ synth patterns per bar count).

This style of music is almost always confused with dubstep, mostly in the case of Skrillex, and Porter Robinson who are two artists currently raping the shit out the genre. Along with them is Wolfgang Gartner, and the aforementioned SebastiAn, and while there are new artists rising, the complexity and difficulty of producing complextro tracks usually makes this genre only fit for the select few.

It's also good at parties

People will also probably not believe that it even exists.
Ex a:
"Hey man, did you hear scary monsters by skrillex? that's some sick dubstep right there"

"excuse me fine sir, but it appears that skrillex is not a dubstep artist at all, but rather a complextro one"

"what the fuck is that?"

Ex b:

"yo man, I just listened to Porter Robinson, that niggah has some tight ass complextro beats for a 19 year old"

"hell yes, negro, Porter Robinson is "the shit", yo"

"yo man, what the fuck is up with your robot voice?"

fin.
