Try Dance Arena as well. They have a suprisingly upfront selection with one of Adelaide's top dnb DJs working there. Nice selection of breaks and progressive too. Otherwise what everyone else said. New store mid-town records opening soon, but thats mainly hard stuff I hear.

You'd do your best to avoid Central Station.

Red Light District for music that is the @!#$, and the money goes back into the industry and not embezzled elsewhere.

For dnb go to Clinic 116 in the Adelaide Arcade or Dance Arena in the mall.
Regular visits will see u picking up some nice tunes for easy listening.

Midtown is just opened (at the fringe) and is on Union St. Just near Chapel Gesture..

its run by George Vagas and Roni (I think). And they have a great selection..

Check it out...

How about shopping for vinyl over the Net - we're getting some wicked vinyl from Plastic Fantastic and it gets here really quickly. The upside is you're not listening through shitty, broken headphones whilst the record store plays their own tracks through the speakers super loudly. You just listen to bits of each track, order or backorder and voila - it works for us and we're loving it ;o)

Shopping over the net is great! I know heaps of DJs that get really cool stuff from overseas on the net.

What are the best web sites to visit??

We like "Plastic Fantastic" (www.plasticfantastic.co.uk) and "Hooj" (www.hooj.com) for buying wicked Progressive tracks :)

can be good buying on the net when stuff doesnt get here, but its not the smartest idea doing that full time -

where does the money go? overseas! not to the guys trying to expand the scene here, dont forget that a lot of the punters are also people who buy (or will buy) records, so if the sales drop too much locally and shops close, it aint good for the local scene.
how hard is it to ask for someone to get a track in???
and try to get a DECENT promo off the net, it aint going to happen, but you can get stuff here every now and then, and im talking GOOD ones, not just left over white labels...
