Get "Tactile 12000". It's free!

www.tactile12000.com

It uses a virtual decks setup with heaps of options such as pitch control and cross fade effects. Use two sound cards to make mixing easy using head phones.

Now grab a copy of "total recorder" from www.download.com. This program allows you to record anything that is played thru your soundcard.

Create a recording of your music and save it as a .wav file. Next simply burn it to CD and then go to your car, pop it in the CD player and crank the music as loud as you can so ppl think your a hardcore clubber.

Ummm, errr sorry!

How about you stop stealing from artists and buy some turntables, mixer and vinyl and do it legitimately???

How about you stop making slanderous accusations of criminality?

Plenty of sites now offer dance tunes for paid download. Warp records (http://www.warprecords.com) , hooj (http://www.hooj.com) , and trax2burn (http://www.trax2burn.com) to name a few. Not to mention all the artists who allow their work to be downloaded for free (www.mp3.com.au (http://www.mp3.com.au) ), god bless em.

Vinyl has had its day, the download the future!

I've got tractor 1.0 (i think) and i've tried to figure out how to divide the left and right channels up so you can cue with the left and have sound outa the right. I heard you could do it but i dunno how, can anyone help?

for queuing there is a device i saw on ebay that you plug in and it tricks the computer thinking you have 9 outputs, and i guess you plug your headdies into that and mix away. ... but i cant remember the name of it ... dammit ... my dammit memmory!

What is the point of makeing grosely obtuse statment like that.

Is it legitimate to copy my vinyl into my computer and use a mp3 mixing program due to the fact that i am going overseas and cant take a crate of vinyl or would i have to use final scratch for that to be legitimate.

Back on the topic...
Mixmeister is really cool, especially with the effects and scripts. It can also beatmix filmclips if you got them.

VirtualDJ has a cool interface and can use effect plugins ass well.

Tractor is pretty rock solid in the interface and has some great functions but its a little pricy.

i found that thing on ebay that i was talking about above.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41784&item=3744056740

"2004 INDIGO D.J.H - ECHO DIGITAL AUDIO".

it divides up the output into 8 outputs so you can cue. But i think the quality wont be that good, it says something about 96khz...but not too sure about that.

it provides two 1/8" outputs, each stereo. Geared straight at "virtual" dJ programs where you can cue on one channel and play on the other. But as I always say why not just run two copies of winamp and use a real mixer ?

Traktor is the go - awesome mixing software, and the only one out there that could possibly be used for mixing live in a club situation. Rip your own CD collection to mp3 at high quality, and away you go. To be able to stream different channels to your headphones and the main output you'll need a multichannel soundcard. My recommendation is the Echo Audigy - seriously good quality in a PCI card format, and supports up to 8 sources, but essentially it easily allows you to send your cue channel to your headphones and your main mix out to the speakers / club system / whatever. Check out the Native Instruments website -they have a forum dedicated to Traktor users which answers all your questions. Its a lot of fun... :)

Traktor is my pick for quality mixing. Virtual DJ and atomnixMP3 i've used and are fun to play with, but for a nice mix of your fav songs just didn't cut it.

I've got decks and i run traktor into my mixer so i can mix mp3s & samples. There is an option in Traktor that allows yuo to choose "External Mixer" so all your cueing and fading is done thru the mixer, piece of piss.

If you don't have a mixer just set your shortcuts key up well and you keyboard becomes the mixer, again piece of piss. I used traktor to stuff around when i started getting an interest in mixing, and that has now lead onto me getting decks and building up a vinyl collection.

Obviously its never going feel as good as decks unless you get Final Scratch or similar product, but it defantly works fine for the bedroom banger or beginner. Feel free to PM me if you got any questions regarding the software, as ive prob been thru the same issues you may be having.

Oh buy the way, if your not using an external mixer traktor can record the mix for you. it simply tracks your MP3s and follows the crossfader. once you set is done, chosse record mix and it produces a wave file, either in tracks or as one big file. The only prob is when you choose tracks the cut points are never where you want or would put them.

As i use an external mixer, the record function is useless so i use NERO Wave Editor to record all my sets, works a treat.

thanx............If it's for making a quick MIXCD then ACID PRO 4.0 is the go.

Forget all this other toy crap people are suggesting which is aimed at live PC mixing.

ACID will do what you asked for.

probably worth the $149 to get a copy of NI Traktor DJ. cheap, legit, guaranteed to work, and heaps of fun.

For easy cue, there is a gadget from sound and music www.sound-music.com who are a melb based wholesaler (waves, evolution, esi etc) that gives you a stereo 3.5mm out on USB wit no drivers. costs about 90 bucks - available at any store that sells evolution controllers.
