View Full Version : Progressive
hey guys,
Wanting to know which clubs and/or nights in Adelaide you think do justice to progressive trance and/or house. It seems the wicked house parties thrown from time to time do it best (particularly last Saturday at Glenelg!) Any thoughts?

Is this the party with the sand in the lounge room and the palm trees??
yeah cause if it was that party with the sand and trees in the lounge room + the spa out the back, then i know what you're talking about. Real music, real people and definately real fun!
Certainly is .. and it rocked big time! Have photos but unfortunately not from a digital cam! ;o)
Haven't met such cool, real people in a while and it was great to be a part of. I am wondering how J is going to remove the sand though, by 7am it was scattered throughout the entire house! If only more nights were like this one ...
yeah pity the music got shut down when it did. Could have kept going for quite a while longer. But yeah - with all the hype of the large scale events of late, nothing beats the underground parties! Oh and nothing beats dancing barefoot in a sandpit to great tunes
what a wicked party, could never reproduce that homely feeling in a club environment unfortunately, have to wear shoes! big congrats to the x man and all the international dj's that kept the legs pounding the sand........and to all the residents of glenelg who held off for so long before calling the cops, top stuff. & remember... no one can like the shadowman can

Has anyone been to a party done by these guys that has had Nomoss play live at it??
I've heard that they had a party in the basement of a mansion in St. Peters(??). I also heard that Nomoss rocked :)

back to the original question, when Fabric was around at The Loft it certainly did justice to the TRUE progressive house/trance sound.
Not exactly sure what is on at the Loft on Saturday's now, but last year as Fabric the lineup was Brendon, Nick T, Phil T & Mal and all of them were dedicated to the TRUE progressive sound not following the latest trends in dance music and playing the same stuff they usually play but calling it progressive.
Red Room can be a bit hit and miss on a Friday night but both Brendon and Mal play fantastic progressive sets there.
Also, on Saturday March 2 there was an excellent night at Q which had a little house, a little breaks but mainly progressive. I was lucky enough to be part of it so may be a little biased but there was a fantastic atmosphere and all the locals and the 2 Melbourne DJ's who played did a fantastic job.
Thanks ;o) .. I dropped in to Q for a while that evening and heard (and danced) to someone playing a wicked progressive set! It kept us there longer than we planned, so have to congratulate all who were a part of that. It was nice to stumble onto it ...

Lotus: glad you enjoyed yourself.
If you were there between 12-2am it would have been Scott Ruddock from Melbourne playing a percussive house/tribal/progressive set. One of the most talented DJs I've heard for a while, he was dropping acapellas over beats (an acapella of Satoshi Tomiie's "Up in Flames" over the top of some beats was a highlight of the night for me)
If you were there between 2-4am it would have been DJ Mal with a fantastic progressive/nu skool breaks set. Still smiling after hearing the Tarantella remix of Way Out West's Mindcircus :)
If anyone want to be kept updated of any more progressive house/nu skool breaks parties that we organise drop me an email :)

Oo just found this thread...
Hey if you're still looking for quality progressive the Fabric boys are hard at work and are putting on a party this Friday 12 April at Red Room.
Gavin Martin will be playing. And if you haven't heard him before you're missing out! Definitely up there with the Sean Quinn's and Kasey Taylor's.
Aside from that look out on May 24th for something special and strictly underground (or should this one be up in the air, Beekayz;) )

sheesh! Why does everyone always think I know what they're talking about?
Dont you people realise that most things are in one ear & out the other with me so don't even bother trying to include me in in-jokes!
Beekayz looks to the sky for more information from goatboy ;)

Well then you should come back and check out the next Fabric event:
Sat 24 May Fabric are putting on their next show at Skylab, top floor of Minke. This time the boys are putting on an all local affair proving that we have the goods to match it against any other states in the progressive stakes, with Fabric favourites Mal, Nick T, Andee and introducing Phatcontroller.
;D
Entry is $5 before 12am, $8 after.
Free entry before 12am for Fabric members, $5 after.

Oh, and in other Adelaide progressive news, Fabric's very own DJ Mal (featured within these hallowed pages) will be playing in the main room at Room680 in Melbourne on Sat 18 May.
Big ups to the Adelaide crew! :offchops:
