Love to know what are your favourite bars in Adelaide? Where would you recommend going for a drink when you just feel like getting out there and enjoying a casual evening? ;o)

Cool, thanks :) it's always nice to check out new places. It's one of the things I really like about Adelaide - the hidden treasures that you can only find "word to mouth" ;o)

I you'd to like going to Soda Room early and leaving when it got to busy, but that was 18 months ago when I was living in Adelaide...

Garage is a favourite place to go for us ... Bingo is lots of fun and the "Hair of the Dog" Sunday was enjoyable the times I went there! :)

Can thoroughly endorse DrWahwah's suggestion!
Good tunes, chilled out atmosphere & comfy seating.

I also like Fumo Blue, especially the fishtank.

And don't go past your local either. Lots of crap pubs out theire in the suburbs, but if you look hard enough there is always one little treasure that has a good atmosphere, Newcastle Brown Ale on tap and is in stumbling distance of your home. When I was living in the eastern suburbs a while ago Maitlands used to be the one that did it for me. :)

can't go wrong with the Cumberland Arms of a friday and saturday night especially, nice front bar with smooth house tunes, cosy ambient lounge bar with funk and soul tunes and a beer garden with plenty of greenery and soft lighting, oh yeah, and some guy called skot plays there on friday nights :)

what's the go with Zoots?

Lotus
19-Mar-02, 10:05am
Yeah, i've been wondering that too? it never seems to be opened - although it was on Sunday. Maybe it's weather dependent? Nevertheless, across the road at the Ramsgate can be nice - a very goodlooking pub that one.

I know nothing about Zoots except Petet Finger plays there... I'm not even in Adelaide, so I don't even know where it is.

for beer, cumberland arms, worlds end and the austral are all still good to drink and chat at depending on the nights you go and how loud you like your music.
The botanic is looking pretty swish these days and a pretty good selection of cd's playing in the background, they generally make good spirits and cocktails although i've still yet to find a better barman than duncan from bijou(worlds end) and cargo.

also the new tapas seems to have lost none of the old one's feel and that damn skot guy seems to be there too :)

and mojo west on hindley always has some cool and varied tunes playing

Went into the Bar on Gouger recently and it was a lovely atmosphere with awsome couches, but as myself and friends seem to be constantly causally dressed ravers we did feel a bit stared at by the "beautiful" people...... the staff were great and we'd certainly go back.
For a beer in the early evening or on the weekend we head to the Earl of Lecister, on Lecister St. in unley. Very friendly!!

Mr S,

Thanks for the suggestion - Bar on Gouger. Made it down there finally and what a nice place it is. Those couches are just so comfy and bar staff very friendly. Me thinks I may wonder down for a bif of jazz tonight ;)
