I always say if you're sick of something or it no longer presents satisfactory challenges then move on for a while, life is easy like that - if you let it be! I just came back here after moving to Melbourne for a while and am enjoying myself at the moment. You leave, shed some old skin, find out more about yourself which in turn helps you open your eyes to possibilities that just weren't there before when you return (and when you move on once again).

Just my two cents - from Ms I like to keep learning :)

Ahhh...."gug".....now I understand.

I agree with Lotus that a break is good every now and then. Take yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new :)

yeah good call... but you don't necessarily have to leave the state to leave your comfort zone...

Michaela

definitely ezz!

you just need to do some different stuff. Sometimes it is amazing what you can find when you look outside the normal things you do :)

thane
18-Mar-02, 11:25pm

It has been a plan of mine for some weeks now

thane

Ahh yes, but this is Adelaide, there really isnt that much to do here, well not that i havent done already. Recently i was in melbourne, and found that the endless amounts of entertainment makes adelaide look like a Lego town. A town that only goes off if its wound up!, if you know what i mean.

CRAP!! sorry thane but a place only becomes stale because a person has let it. you can't honestly say you have done and enjoyed everything this city has to offer?

if u feel that strongly about it then perhaps you should move. it has to be better than slagging off one of the friendliest, most laid back cities in the country.

Lotus
19-Mar-02, 12:51pm
Yeah, the laid back attitude is what brought me back here - you can't find it just anywhere! ;o)

Michaela
19-Mar-02, 03:18pm
Also sometimes you don't realise how good a place is until you aren't there anymore. Sure there is heaps of stuff to do in places like Melbourne and Sydney but the attitude of the people is often not the same. Adelaide has great people :)

I think you are right, Michaela.
Thane you should grab the bull by the horn and do something inspiring in Adelaie :)

when i say that there is nothing here for me anymore. I mean, there is nothing i really want to do here, definately getting close to being time to move on

Its the Old Adelaide syndrome it bites after you've done it all, and have climbed the last (it seems) step in the Adel career / entertainment ladder...
Yes people do move to Melb & Syd for that whole reason..... gone as far as you can get and sick of knocking back the idea that to move interstate might be a big crazy step and disillusional light at the end of the tunnel .... make the move now.... LIFE can get you in a slump in Adel, its very easy coz everyone else seems to be content... But not YOU so go and see, live and experience what the other states have to offer.
Tried and tested 12yrs residing in Syd from Adelaide and I would go backwards...unless its for Xmas ...that's all ....
So start packing and start sending your resume off and befor you know it you'll have a another step on LIFES ladder to climb

Holiday sounds great Michaela! Ive just got back from one which is probably why i dont feel like being in adelaide much longer. I like my stability aswell. I wont move unless i know i have nothing to worry about financially. I can transfer through work, so thats not a problem, its just the cost of moving and setting up a happy little home!!!!! But im working on it!! :)

its people like you that make adelaide bad , leave & never come back !!!!! it would make adelaide a much better place !

Heidy

Have to say i agree with Brettwitter, Adelaide has so much potential yet so many people are whinging about it.
Thane what excatly dont you like about Adelaide?is it because were not in the limelight as as much as other states?keeping in mind Adelaide is a hell of alot smaller than Melb and Syd,i reakon if we were as big we'd have people from interstate whinging they wanna live in Adelaide.Come on Thane Adelaide has so much to offer you just need to open up and have a look,it really isnt that bad of a place.

thane
09-Apr-02, 01:06pm
Yeah Brett, What ever, you can talk!

thane
09-Apr-02, 01:12pm
I see where you are coming from Heidy. I feel like im stuck between a rock and a hard place. There is a whole world out there to see and be a part of, and i want to do just that. It's no necissarily the scene, its a combination of things, and it all leads to feeling restricted. I love lil' ol Adelaide and it will always be home to me. The bigger cities hold the bigger opportunities!!!
