To many Lic licences the last time I was there Xmas time there were so many more bars / clubs, do you think its more cut throat to operate/run and make $$$ as there are so much more of them?.... do you think there isnt enough punters to fill em apart from Adel 500's, etc, etc, influx of people...????

Considering we did 2500 people every Saturday night in Heaven... Adelaide can handle half a dozen smaller clubs with easy...!!!
I'm sure!

But is it a case of, if the smaller clubs are to do well then then bigger clubs are going to suffer (as is the case now) and if the bigger clus are pulling in 2 500 people (ie Heaven & Planet liked they used to) then there are not enough left for the smaller clubs other than a small core of underground music lovers?

Thats Capitalism baby!
........the best will find their regular clientele and others will wither and die. But one thing I have noticed is that people in Adelaide aren't used to choice and with bars being so close to each other and people aren't content to stay in one place beacuse it hasn't got enough vibe yet so there is a mass of people loooking for something and nights dont really get going. This is why regulars are important and the best bars recognise this.
smaller places such as the better ones in the west end (ie, cumberland, garage, minke, savvy, red room) are starting to pick up really well at the moment. i would much prefer to go to one of these smaller places than any of the so-called "super" clubs. personally, i can't stand the large ones such as heaven and the planet.
dr wahwah is correct, the shite places will die.

I agree.
Venues can't choose patrons....patrons choose venues.
