The word around the traps is that the next season will have family teams of 4. To be shown in the US from 27 September.
Some intel out there says that this season doens't even venture out of the US.
Whats your early thoughts on the next season. Do you think that the show will suffer or take it to a new level?
If anyone gets team names and photo's over time, be sure to post them so we can have a look.

The word from a participant in a previous race is that the current one is going so poorly that it might be ended early, the contestants sent home, and the race cancelled. The source says that, unlike in previous races, the first legs of this eighth race were run inside the United States in order to eliminate as many contestants as possible before sending the survivors overseas. However, things have not gone well, in part because there are little kids involved, and in part because entire families are involved. Another factor: The show has grown popular during the past year, and so local media are providing saturation coverage wherever the racers show up. This unwelcome attention has been interfering with the running of the race. The remaining racers are being held in Belize while the producers of the show decide what to do next. evidently hera (TAR6 competitor) has said something similar as well in the last week or so...

applications for series 9 are apparently already open, and rumour has it that it will be going back to teams of two.
it's a pity that you must be American (USA) to enter.
Yeah when I saw that the applications were for families (teams of 4) I was wondering how that was going to work. I mean little kids? Can't be good.
I check every time they ask for applicants to see if they will invite international peoples to join in, but so far no luck ;)
i think an internationla one would be a great idea, like, battle of the countries or continents or something.

i went to the site during series 6 to try and enter (then found out you have to be american) they were taking applicants for series 8, and said it was teams of 4.

Hrmmm, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Sooo funny!!
These teams just look American don't they? Speshally the Gaghan's. Psychotically smiling happly people all the time til one day they go postal in a ...post...office or summing.
This'll be a VERY interesting race, particularly with little kids on the show... Ima still watch it, of course, but it'll be slightly odd this time

Yeah cause channel 7 have such a 'cavalcade' of quality shows filling up their timeslots....get real 7, amazing race is the only reason I watched your shitty channel.
I agree about C7, that was really the only reason why I watched this channel.
Anyway, I came across this company http://www.TheRealRace.com which looks like similar concept to the amazing race but without the TV cameras and pressure around. They also offer an appealing prize.

Warning minor spoliers:
Just watched the first 2 parts of the 1st leg and I must say it plain and simply sucks. Alot of the appeal in the past seven seasons has been the exotic locations. Sadly in this one, places like Reykjavik and Paris have been replaced by an Amish farm. :?
Also, this series probably has the most annoying bunch of contestants. Whoever decided to introduce the family element should be shot X(

I've been saying that for 5 years hey. I'm tempted to use my american green card and just fly over one year to audition. The mole is its attempt at it I thought although they only go to NZ and its kinda lame.
I dunno, I kinda liked it. It IS only the first episode, and the first episodes are never really exciting.
I'm going for the team with the two kids (girl and boy) and the siblings (three brothers and a sister)

yeah its not tooooo bad, bit comical in bits, I do hope they get out of the states soon, and quit that patriotic bullshit.
I am gunning for the gaughins (the jogging family) they seem normal enough, that italian family shits me to tears. lets hope they go next !!! If I had kids like that I would disown them

So far driving seems to be the only mode of transport which I guess is due to the family element. Don't think the kids could handle a crowded Indian train or even a long-distance flight. As I said, I think the family element was a terrible concept to begin with as it destroys the very nature of the Amazing Race. Where's the fun of just driving everywhere? Actually, this season reminds me of another reality TV show a few years back on Channel 9 where families had to drive around outback Australia trying to get jigsaw pieces that showed the final destination.

Yeah I thought the 3rd episode was a huge improvement over the first two. It felt like I was finally watching the Amazing Race again. However, I which they would stop the shameless plugs for AOL.
has anyone else been watching it? i've been downloading it and am up to ep 7 (which is taking forever to download for some reason) i'm liking so many families, normally i have a clear favourite from the start.
the italian family are a classic, i cant believe how much they argue
