Hey guys time has come for me to invest in a camera and i currently know nothing about which ones are the best value and most reliable etc..

Im planning to spend between $200-350 on something decent with at least 4 megapixel dpi, video recording and all that jazz.

Can someone with experience recommend some models to me in this price range?

Cheers for any help :thumb:

have always said canon or pentax, but saw a friends snazzy little olympus the other day and was very impressed.
go get the mist expensive you can afford and avoid sony and kodak

.... $200-350...

just remember, you'll get what you paid for! save a little and pay a bit more - the quality will increase dramatically and you'll be happier :)

I'd pay more if it was definitely going to notice a difference.. i have also been impressed by an olympus my mate had very small and produced good quality shots.

For $300 on ebay (new), the Canon Ixus 400 is a bloody good camera in my opinion.

Depends if you want a compact or something chunky though.

The IXUS models are very good, not much manual control but for most people all they use is automatic modes which it really does beautifully. I recommend them highly.

I'm considering getting one when I don't want to cart around my DSLR and lenses.

Have a look on www.dpreview.com they have sample photos taken with a lot of cameras
