Thursday nights

Hey guys, i've got a friend who's having there 18th and they wanna go out on thursday night. Which places in canberra are actually good on thursdays? I was thinking maybe insomnia. I know the music is crap but its the only place i can think of that might actually have people in it. Any ideas??

doubtful that many places wil be busy cos its uni exam period...but depending when the bday is...

UC Bar night has a fair few people on thursdays (Plus Marky is the DJ and he manages to sneak a bit of good music in)...but it doesnt start up again till next semester being exams and all...

other than that thurs 28th @ babylon = Pee Wee Ferris vs Jumping Jack...

ive heard places like trinity, east on west, and corvos play good tunes too(not sure if any do anything on thursdays tho') but i dont think it's really crazy dancing sort atmosphere more sit around listening to the choons me thinks....

Yeah i know what u mean. They sound a bit like lot 33. I went there last sat and it was mostly just people sitting around drinking. From what i've seen it seems to be a glorifies bar more than a club.

But what do u reckon about insomnia?? They seem to be busy and i thought they might be on thu.

Any other advice from other people would be helpful as well

well i aint been to civic on a thurs for a while....bout a year i spose....but we used to be out there every thurs after uc bar night (3am) and everywhere in civic was busy...mooseheads, insomnia, pandoras etc etc....

but you're probably right insomnia's ya best bet if you're after nightclub sort of deal ....otherwise you could always go to kingston...filthy mcfaddens, holy grail etc it's always busy every night of the week...

is it still 2 for 1's at insomnia on a thursday? the last time i went there on a thursday night (over a year ago now), it was.

You could go to south pac, it's jugs on a thursday night. I know how much everyone in canberra LOVES that place :)

Come on south pacs isn't that bad, its probably the cheapest drinks in the town, and its fairly central, babylon across the road, insomnia one block away, subway only 2 mins :)

Thanx dude, i'm actually looking at spraci right now. Its a bit bare though. I suppose thats the same with all of the sites like canberratribe and sketchycrew. Do u know of any others besides these ones??

Even those ones aren't that good anyway. Most of the clubs don't seem to bother submitting their events to the sites that are there. Except of course habana

Eventually I'll have d-j.net back up and running for y'all in Canberra.

It's usually upto the promoter to get the details for events out to the websites, or the "webmaster" to go detail hunting for themselves.

Just in case anyone would like to know, the thursday night turned out pretty good. We ended up going to insomnia where they have 2 for 1 drinks, which is always good for 18ths. There was actually a fair amount of people there as well. All in all it was a good night and hopefully i'll be doing the same thing this thu as well!
