My experience is to avoid big nights out like the plague on NYE in London. They're horrible. Utterly, utterly horrible. All the amateur drinkers and partiers come out for their one night out all year, messiness ensues, fights happen, entry costs a fortune, everywhere's packed, bad vibes all round, friends all want to go to different events, it's freezing cold, cabs are impossible to get home, and it generally takes forever to get anywhere or do anything. Hate it. :(
I've found that the best thing to do is get a big group of friends together, pick a fun local pub (my fave pub has provided me with the two best NYEs ever), all pay the minimal entry fee, get smashed, have a laugh, then all go back to someone's house afterwards and carry on all day.
The big club nights always look like they're going to be fun on flyers, but they're just toooo much damn hassle - for me, at least.

I've been informed by a reliable source that Laurent Garnier and Francois K are playing 9 hours back to back on NYE.
Could be quite the proper night.

Aye. At Canvas. Sounds almost to good to be true. But apparently it is.
i did 1 nye at fabric and 1 nye at tdk, both were rocking. nye @ fabric is like a normal club night plus countdown, still fun tho. tdk was amazing and i highly recommend it. we then kicked on home for a quick change then kicked onto egg. best new years ever. never had a problem with taxis etc.
i think the pub idea sounds fun, would have to be a big crew tho i think to ensure that it was a good crowd?!
if i was there this year it sounds like i'd be at canvas

i tend to agree ... i cant say that my past NYEs have surpassed my 20 or so best nights out, to much hype, to many dickheads and overpriced ...tho i wont pass up any excuse for a mash up ;) house parties sepacially in london are def the way to go
to be honest if i was in a postion to have a bunch of mates to go to the pub with i would do it.. then go out nyd.. but its gonna be a small crew so i'm just lookin for a place with just a general good vibe. I dont really wanna just go clubbing in london, i can do that for 6 months..
People have told me nottingham is the grouse.. just a cool vibe, party people, and apparently some kinda outdoor concert.. Looked at it breifly and it dont seem to bad but lookin for a lot of options.. Was hoping somewhere in europe there would at least be a couple of bigdayout/sonnemondsterne/i love techno type things happenin.. ?

I'm feeling Breakin Science NYE at this point.
Anyone know where Andy C will be appearing this NYE?
Hopefully not Slammin' Vinyl. I imagine the chav factor at those parties is off the hook, in case the whistle crew isn't enough of a downer.
I'm gonna stay in Chamonix... heard it rocks NYE.
London sounds too hectic.
