Hey canberrans,

Just to let everyone know that there is a new 24hr dance/house/electronic radio station in canberra. Lets try and get behind it, cause we dont want to lose it now that we have it.

Yeah its a pretty cool station. I've been listening to it for a couple of weeks now. They usually play some pretty good tunes

87.6 ACT and/or 88.0 Queanbeyan (same station different frequencies) is streetnation radio (www.streetnation.com) only have a community narrowcast license apparently...which means they are only allowed to broadcast in a 1.5km radius, they be breaking the rules and jacking up there signal strength and drowning out other community radio stations such as CUe FM 87.7 FM (UC campus radio station) which i reckon sucks ass....they only broadcast cheese anyways(streetnation that is)....

So if they can only broadcast in a 1.5km radius, where is the signal coming from? I can't pick it up in the Civic area.

I can only pick up the Queanbeyan signal from my southside residence, but aren't their activities a tad illegal? (esp when you consider how close their Canberra frequency is to CUe Fm's)

I think you should support CUe if you live close enough....Freshie used to have a show on it, same with Nick and Pappa...hell, even I gave it a stab for two years. Better than the crap they play on Street FM (Lionel Richie? Yeah, that's dance music!)

WIll certainly be checking it out if i can pick it up in that most aptly named suburb Downer... Whilst Groove Train, and mixup do me well, and the 2xx gear (esp the Riot Grrrrl hour but i havent listened to it in a while so i hope its still on). Lets just hope its better than all these sydney dance stations im currently being subject to by my sister grrrr if i hear any song that mentions the word "bass" and "place" or "face" or "how do you like" or any other bloody slogan, till i get back to canberra i might just, oh never mind.
And Mr Funky, dont go dissing the Lionel - his bands music might not be great (or even bearable sometimes), but god does the man have a good voice - best ive ever heard (barring mike patton...).
