View Full Version : Coming up at Fabric...

Funky Dung
05-Oct-05, 09:15pm
The place does piss me off something rotten a lot of the time, but they keep on having line-ups that are extremely hard to avoid. A few in the next month or so that I may well attend...

Sat 22nd Oct
M.A.N.D.Y.
Booka Shade (live)
Luciano
Green Velvet (live)
Luke Slater
Anthony Rother (live)
Headman
Gregor Tresher
Craig Richards
Terry Francis

Sat 29th Oct
Tiefschwarz
Swayzak
Agoria
Sulversurfer (live)
Simon Rigg
Craig Richards
Terry Francis

Fri 4th Nov
Uberzone (live)
Adam Freeland
Evil Nine
Stanton Warriors
The DnB lot (Krust, Peshay, High Contrast, etc)

Sat 19th Nov
Richie Hawtin
Ricardo Villalobos
Magda (live tea-making set)
Matthew Dear (live)
Hipp-E
Craig Richards
Terry Francis

Think the last two are pretty definite. The last time I saw Freeland being great was at Fabric with Uberzone and Evil Nine over three years ago, so I hold out some kind of vague hope that he'll even be half as awesome as he was that night.

PS - Adam Freeland is a gimp and breaks is for losers.

I agree that Freeland is a gimp, but at Fabric 3 years ago there was the same line-up (Uberzone, Evil Nine, Freeland) in that room and it was one of the best nights out I've had. Freeland was absolutely amazing. :tripping:

Next time I saw him in Sydney, less than a year later, he'd turned into a huge heap of SHIT. And he's got worse with each set. I'm just willing to give him one final chance at Fabric, because he was a favourite of mine for many years, and I find it hard to believe how tragically he's lost all of his taste and skill so quickly.

And good breaks aren't for losers, just those shit ones that tons of people play. :P

Missing Sydneys thriving scene then Ed?
Erm... no.

I love the fabric birthday weekend.... !
it's the after-party birthday party that rocks in most though... :)

tripi shall we try again?

Tripi Taka
14-Oct-05, 12:44am
wait wait, which wkend is this?

yes. we must have a night out before you fking leave. (i'll prolly end up marrying just to stay here y'know).

lil_jazz
17-Oct-05, 11:54pm
i tried. even with a dowry on offer I still had no luck. :(
lol.

I'm @ Ministry this friday for Abbatoir (Switch) with Billy Nasty, Christian Smith & Kevin Saunderson.

Then Saturday is Fabric for the birthday party.

You keen for either of these? :D

Tripi Taka
18-Oct-05, 02:14am
hmmmmmm. that's tough.

i was trying to scale it down this wkend and do the bays on sat. techno makes me do stupid crazy shit all the time you see, and i'm trying to keep it to a minimum.

when do you leave? real soon eh.

will i like ministry?

ed, if you were forced at gunpoint to accompany me to one of these nights - which would you choose?

what you up to the following wkend D?

x

Funky Dung
18-Oct-05, 08:44am
Um... I know Steve's keen on the Kevin Saunderson thing at MoS. I love the idea of the Fabric line-up, but it'll be sooooo packed I don't think I'll be able to enjoy it. So maybe MoS (the other techno night I was on about isn't until next Saturday). But you can try me with either.

PS. Kevin Saunderson and Christian Smith are both very much techno, but of the housier variety, so you should be okay with them.

Tripi Taka
18-Oct-05, 09:45am
so would you be up for fri night ministry and sat night bays?

could we do a LOW-KEY fri night then? oh and a low-key sat.

:( not happening is it.

lil_jazz
18-Oct-05, 06:40pm
Lol. just come out.
you've only got 2 years here. make the most of it woman!
x

(yes, I leave v.soon. 31st October. Leaving par-tay on 29th, followed by Mulletover Warehouse Party, so if you don't come this weekend, keep next free... the bay's aren't THAT good).

Tripi Taka
18-Oct-05, 08:08pm
next wkend is mr scruff friday and then 99% sure brighton for jazz rooms on sat - my friend is singing there. def wit you on sat if i dont make it down there.

basically, i think i can only handle one night out this wkend. play it by ear - i will definitely make it to one outta the two.

great. becoming just about as decisive and reliable as you, ed. ( not going to bedrock to rest up before garnier eh?)

the bays play EXACTLY what i love listening to. i fking adore them. but mo importantly - that vibe?! fking unparalleled as far as i'm concerned. for a live act with no releases? cmon.

..but i'm still young, fresh off the boat, wide-eyed over here. not exactly the most discerning type at best of times. ;)

Tripi Taka
20-Oct-05, 11:25pm

Craig Richards bored me last time I heard him play... but that was about three years ago. Definitely time to give him another run.

well that ended up being a bit of fun ;)

wasn't overly impressed with herbert's set.

jamie was good. (not great - but only by his standards. goes without saying that i think he's fking genius) performing solo unfortunately. still fun, very energetic etc. but i was really hanging out to see him with a bit more of a crew. fabric loved him tho! i could be wrong (judgement MAY have been a little off), but it sounded like the enitre room below us were singing along to the vocal tracks? ..and huge cheers at the end of his set.

sims was good. francis was good.

crowd was, as usual, fking disgusting. thank christ for that little haven upstairs, really.

yeah it was OK in patches... but playing the milkshake song really was beyond reprehensible.

i had an excellent night, and i don't know that the crowd was really quite as bad as you make it out to be tripi. although room 2 is always a bit of a nightmare.

i thought ben sims was wicked... by far the best techno i have ever heard. keen to check that boy out again.

terry francis was good but i'd rather hear him on a night where he isn't warming up for two techno DJs.

thought craig richards was great too... all in all an excellent night of music.

anyone going down for wiggle in the main room on saturday?

Tripi Taka
14-Dec-05, 03:32am
manchester? mebbe. reckon it will sell out soon? i'm gon buy a ticket just in case and then see what happens work wise. wait - what day does it fall on?

herbert was aiight. just didn't dig what he was playing as much as i did the last time i saw him. there were some utterly gay, awful tracks in there.. the type that still don't pass even when HE plays em - and 'milkshake' wasn't the lowest point, either.

in all honesty tho, i was barely even paying attention to his set by that point.. i just remember turning my nose up a few times.

i wouldn't have lasted 5 mins in front of sims had i been sober etc tho, james. don't be all excited that i like 'boy' techno. i don't. ;)

YES!! Lovely lineup innit.

MAKE sure you see Who made Who. They were fking fantastic at Sonar this year. Best crowd response of the entire 3 days.

Jaaaames, come with us.

tom middleton. that is all.

well we missed who made who unfortunately. could have listened to tom middleton alll night tho.. easily one of the best sets i've ever heard him play. only ONE novelty track for starters - and a fking worthy choice too.. he opened with police - every little thing.

fking fab night, apart from how packed it was in the vip room early on. very young, hot, predominantly femme crowd. the sydney-est crowd i've seen yet over here.

right then, who's up for wiggle tonight? :)

BeranJ
18-Dec-05, 06:38am
farkin moshpit for JLC when I got there at 1:40, halfway thru A Pain That I'm Used To :(

Middleton playing Craig mix of Theo Parrish & Lets Be Young

Highlight: me wearing my sleeveless hoody in Room 3 and one of the security saying, "Take that off son" me: "why, is it intimidating?" him: "yes", me: "i'm the whitest, skinniest cvnt in this club" him & me

Did Madonna turn up? Rumour was that she was the "very special guest" mentioned on the line-up.

The Admiral
19-Dec-05, 11:26am
no idea, it was so feckin crowded in the main room we didn't really care to find out.

saturday night was brilliant. didn't deviate from the vip at all, just sat on a couch and listened to nathan coles, terry f and eddie richards bang it out. brilliant!

i have a new favourite track:

martin eyeres - wicked line - border community

eddie richards dropped this at about 5am, fucking amazing through that system. it's on that mix i sent you ed and g. :)

God damn!

Went to Fabric on Friday night to check it out cos I have a friend here from Oz and it was HIDEOUS! The crowd...was....scary to say the least. The dancefloor that has the split level was so packed it was like a moshpit...eek! Is it normally that full?

Music was alright in the other big room...

Will not be going back there in a hurry.

Sorry..thought i might have a winge.

Fridays are far worse than Saturdays. Probably the busiest I have seen Room 1.

DMPM
20-Dec-05, 02:46am
Worse. :|

Glad I'll never go on a Friday then.

BeranJ
20-Dec-05, 03:29am
its amazing how many ladies and fit one's at that attend Fridays but none, i repeat none are there Saturdays. peculiar

The Admiral
20-Dec-05, 04:02am
not really peculiar... the music on saturdays isn't exactly going to attract the ladies.

yeah friday was pretty nasty, but we found a little niche in room 3 that was bearable, and as the night wore on it actually became quite comfortable.

generally fridays are not really worth getting out of bed for though. ;)

BeranJ
20-Dec-05, 04:29am
it is. cause 2 years ago, when I first went there %'s were ok. The influx of italians and spanish in there is absurd.

Tripi Taka
20-Dec-05, 07:10am
yeah, friday was rammed.

saturday was awesome in the main room.

i don't feel so good now tho.

i'd consider an impromptu visit, mebbe. will it sell out steve?

bugged out carries on into NYD anyway and is free - you should all come and laugh at the state i'm in. yayy, i love NYE.

somewhere in islington i think. and rarely gets too busy, apparently.

I guarantee DMPM will be the UK's messiest person come NYD. He's been, and I quote, "a picture of health!" for the last 4 weekends. He's got a lot of lost time to make up for..

Tripi Taka
23-Dec-05, 01:53am
haha, you could have quoted me prior to last wkend! nothing for about 6 weeks.

fking paying for it now tho. :(

gonna try and rest up this wkend.. but it's all on for nye. having the monday off rocks.

ps for the record, i only said 'try'.

I reckon it may well sell out but may be worth chancing your arm on the door.

I'm up in Sandbach(just a bit down from Manchester)at a mates house party NYE,I fully envisage some quite lucid gabble pouring from my stupid gob quite a lot by the time I get to The End!

Tripi Taka
23-Dec-05, 10:19pm
are the whole crew coming down?

you guys should join us at some point.

god, we're so optimistic now.. there's no fking way we'll leave our respective parties, is there.
