We thought long and hard about staging this event, as we knew it would have a very expensive ticket price. but at the end of the day we thought it better to have it than not.

here's why the ticket price is so damn high:

1. home have all the production they need already present in their venue (lasers, visuals screens, sound etc). there's NOTHING in the ANU & we have to install a huge amount of production to meet the very high standards required by Gatecrasher - hence our production costs are considerable.

2. because the event is at the ANU, the tickets have to be sold through ticketek. This means that Ticketek add roughly $6 to the cost of every ticket, whether or not it's sold through their outlets.

3. home are staging the event on a sunday, the canberra one is on a saturday. we have to pay a massive fee for not only the rights to the event but the international guest DJs & visuals operators. it's a large sum of money and it's simply more expensive to secure the rights for a saturday night. It would have been a lot cheaper to bring the show here on a tuesday night, but Buffy's on and we thought you'd all prefer saturday anyway. :)

4. home is a much bigger venue than the ANU. it holds well over 3000 people. hence, as others have pointed out, they can afford to offer events at a cheaper price.

Yes this is one of the highest ticket prices ever for a Canberra event. But, this is also by far and away the most expensive event we have ever staged, and the ticket price simply reflects that.

This is also the first time Canberra has got a look in on a major tour like this on a decent night of the week. Brisbane's event is on a wednesday, Perth's a thursday. Unfortunately there's a price to pay for getting what we think Canberra deserves. If it doesn't work then at least we will have tried. If it does, it could mean we might get to see more big names like Crasher here.

cheers,
Chris (Twisted)

$50 in Canberra and only $35 in Sydney? heh, sounds like everything else decent in this town... :-P

I'm up for it, I'll be picking up my ticket this week... I know its the thing to dog the Twisted crew in some circles... but seriously... (and I'm totally not having a go at anyone else tho, lookin forward to Bamboo and STate) for a fuckoff good night, their events are the safest hugest bet in town recently. EG TG2, Freeland, Lawler in particular. I just hope the ANU venue&mgt there is up to it and the tossers who tagged Frostbite stay away.

Perth on a Thurs, Bris on a Wed? and these towns at least 3 times the size?? I've said it before... go you plucky little canberra scene! go you good thing!

Being kind of in the know of ANU bar management things, its all on at the anu for raves - the bar manager is trying his damndest to get the coolest stuff (of all styles) to canberra. So really the only things that arent aloud at the uni bar are dedicated hip hop events (shame i know, as i love a bit of the old hip-a-to-the-hoppa-to-tha-hip-hip-hop-and-ya dont stop) and underage stuff... But i can garantee as long as the venue isnt getting vandalised, which WONT dammit happen at a twisted or a local band fest or whatever, the shows will go on!
If i might just plug something at the ANU bar, if you ever see something rocky like "Bloodshed" or other nights like that, and you dont mind a bit of the old alternative guitar stuff, check out some of the bands - its cheap, the bar normally gives a happy hour, and you can support your local up and coming musos - and they dont kick people out of the bar and get them all to pay again anymore, so you can like see it for free if you really want. But after seeing this band Zander, the first band before a Lagosta show, i went and paid my $4 coz they rocked! They are way fun nights now, and you might well see me at a few more of them!

I have to admit though, I am glad there will no longer be anymore
