The title says it all, with reports all 'round about the amount of ACT talent. WHo do you guys think is 'all that' and why?

Chris Fresh. It's been great watching him evolve and grow, becoming what I think to be a fine DJ, who is just getting better each set I see. His ability to read the crowd, and pick the tunes that will get them off their ass and onto the dance floor in particular seems to have improved over the past few months, so hats off to Freshie.
Ken Jenson is another DJ that I've enjoyed watching lately. His selection of tracks has been great, and his mixing close too seamless.
Anjay. Someone I have only just started to look forward too. I want to see more from this boy.
But basicaly I have massive respect for all DJ's. Hats off to you all!

Ben Henderson for dropping the techy on me everytime I come to Canberra.
Marky for getting me through some appalling nights of commercialism at the UC bar. Your sets were MUCH appreciated.

as an excanberra girlie and the ever admiring bubby sister of an amazing DJ. i have to say DJ Dylan Evans and DJ Ashley ferrode (aka furry road) are two of canberra's most talented and articulate DJ's. residents at Lot 33 on friday and saturday nites and once know to play at heaven and they r dabbling there hands in special nites at habbanah (oh god i use to know that club as envogue and i went to THE first underage nite when i was 15 or so, oh no). what can i say, yeah i am bias, but let the truth be know these are two extremely intelligent men whom grace their audiance with the finest selection of deep house music. my most memorable and favourite clubbing nites (and if you ask dylan there has been many, as i now live in sydney and have been attempting to have a weekend off for a long time but of cause have failed) is dancing infront of my bro or ash at any venue and letting them choose the path to my magical nite, always a wise sellection of tracks. thankyou for making so many nights perfect boys, your greatest fan little Cee Cee (you know you can't say no)
I there is a ton of undiscovered talent coming up in Canberra. We should all chech out these nubreed nights at Habana I think you will be shocked at how well these new guys can play. It's good to see Habana giving these guys a chance, and you never know they may become a regular part of out ever growing scene.
Can't wait to see you from behind the decks
ARCANE
It's hard to find the really good DJs because the spotlight is filled with too many bangers.
Chris Fresh commands more respect from me than any. Beyond his skill, one can't forget his commitment to this slimy mudhole, our home this is; Canberra.
Spikes are forever.

what ever happened to the DJ's at Jelly???
awww shucks. thanks mike.
There's only so much i can do within the somewhat tightly defined music policy there. But I am glad you actually saw event he tiniest bit of good there!

i would just like to make an amendment to my last post, firstly i should explain i had been awake and partying for two days at that stage so that i hope that will excuse my tragic spelling and sorry ash for spelling your last name incorrectly. but without a doubt, Dylan and Ashley are fine DJ's and i will be graced with their presence in two weekends time when i venture back south to the cold and cellebrate my elderly brothers b'day. so if you want to hear some good music been played by great DJ's go to lot 33 on that saturday. p.s. what did you all think of Gate Crasher? i went to it up here and my opinion was it was too banging, but i guess i expected that, ahh sweet sweet trance when will i hear you out at a club again, i will just have to wait for Paul Van Dyke to come back
Cee Cee:
Theres no such thing as too bang'n. Big Bang'n Techno.
Unless of course you're listening to gabber in which case beating you head against a steel frying pan at insane speeds will probably give you the same effect....

the nubreed nights at habana will be great because we all know there are heaps of really talented djs out there. i just hope that some of them will be able to get regular sets out of it because the canberra scene has been dominated by only a few established djs for a while now (i'm not saying that that is a bad thing - it just is so hard for the new guys to get recognised).
ps. look out for a guy who will be playing at the nubreed nights called dj choco - i have seen him play at habana before and at a party i went to - he rocked! :)

Cee Cee,
Thank you for all the kind words. Ahhh, it warms the heart to know that we have such fans of our soulful deep house as yourself out there. Actually, you should come and see us on Friday at Lot 33 as we play the entire night from 10:00 onwards and get more of a chance to also sqeeze in some mellow disco house and US garage.
Just to add to the 'Canberra's best DJ's' topic ... I found that a good way of discovering talent is to venture to all the different Canberra bars/lounges and listen to what the DJ's there have to offer.
Ashley.

I'm with mad mike on this one! Thank God for Marky at the UC bar. In my 1st 1 1/2 years at uni I went to that place every week without fail, God only knows why! I've been only thrice this year and refused to get on my feet until Marky came on! I'm also surprised to see the number of what appear to be clubbers at the bar now......obviously there to see marky!???? He was great at Vent last year and Heaven too.
on the other Canberra DJs...Chris Fresh played a fab set at the last melt and reads the crowds there and at the bigger events like a book! Archie is also a crowd pleaser, any DJ that smiles and waves to the clubbers near the front and appears to have a good time will entice people to the dance floor. Congrats to all our DJs, you're all champions. When do we get to see you at Sublime again Freshy??

ahh ash, i know you have those feelings for me but you have to hide your love away. hope to go down to canberra for 07/09/01 for nubreed (and your birthday) and hope to drag adam with me. cant wait to see you and your parnter(s) in crime. and with out a doubt in my mind Ashley Feraude and Dylan Evans are the best resident DJ's in Canberra, they converted a young raver friend of mine into a well educated deep house buff, whom due to being privelledge with there devine musical tallent actually loved canberra on his first eva visit (in the winter might i add) and he cant wait to get more. well done boys
xox (one for each of you) luv Caitie Coo

I forgot Danielson - seeing him drop "rappers delight" at the ACT dj championship's a few years back absolutely made my night. And I quite like the koolism stuff.
Why doesn't he play more club gigs?

Don't know if anyone else has noticed how much Bec Patton rocks. She kicked ass on the weekend at Artbeat and I love the way she wiggles while she plays! Definately someone to look out for if you haven't seen her yet.

I'm so keen to hear a bit of Bec Paton. I always seem to just miss her, at the events i've been to she must have played a real early timeslot. I've heard nothing but good things about her tho.
But i must say, Canberra is amazing given its situation. Look at other similar cities of the same size, they've got NOTHING on us. We've got DJs here with mad skillz (i'd name names but i fear i'd get carried away and end up with a huge list) and people like Twisted managing to bring awesome awesome acts to our town. I dig the Canberra scene. much respect to everyone down with it. BO!
So is there anything to compare with say Mad Racket in Canberra?
Mad Racket... never actually been there, but from what I'm told it'd be pretty similar to Fang, musically.
so whats the deal with fang? who djs there? what sorta sounds?

Don't forget Matt Chavasse (5 Years @ Heaven)
wasn't ken cloud a canberra boy?
Mr Mike

Fang plays mainly tribal type sounds (progressive or techy). The resident is Ben Henderson and they get various local (mexi, jeremy joshua, chris fresh, marky etc) and interstate guests (eg Scott Finemore and yes Ken Cloud who was a Canberra boy originally)
