^^^Just found Set Me Free in a work collegue's CD stack. Grabbed it (again - my copy was pinched), if nothing else but for the a cappella version (vocal only). Might try and re-work it one day. Just hearing the vocals solo'ed gives goosebumps. Shame it got thrashed on Channel 10's Video Hits (where I worked) a year later...

When I considered myself a lil "harder" it was Scooter, Dyewitness (Masterplan was just the bomb), Ultra-Sonic, Prodigy.

On the more mainstream tilt- Betty Boo was a great track.. as was Delite Groove is in the Heart. Crystal Waters 100percent Pure love. C+C Music Factory (who did amazing stuff but the fav was) Things that Make u go hmm. Snap Rhythm is a Dancer. Johnny Gill- the floor. Bel Biv Devoe-Poison...Black Box Ride on Time..

forgot to mention NTrance, they were a kinda break away dance act that sadly for them were probably 10yrs too early, I seen Alexis Hart once sing to Steve Hill mixing it was absolutely awesome, the reason I say this is coz NTrance always had vocals, and it brings me to this WHY DONT they have more live vocals @ Raves/Parties, I was lucky to see Qtex with live vocals when I was a lad, its awesome PLZ BRING IT BACK.

Rozalla
Dr Alban
Black Box
Nomad
C&C music Factory
Scatman John
2 Unlimited
Deep Forest
Double You

S-express - Theme From S-Express
Black Box - Ride on Time
Hit house - Jack to the sound of the underground
Technotronic - Pump up the jam
Yazz - The only way is up

Yeah, Happy Mondays "Loose Fit" was pretty much responsible for the baggy jeans movement. Sydney circa '90 - '92 you when there were only a couple of thousand ravers in Sydney, you could tell each other by the baggy jeans. You'd see each other in the street and give a knowing smile. Real community back then.;)

Well mate I am from Croydon (melbourne) and i guess the Graf / Bombing / street skating scene (not vert) grew into the a similar period.. the mondays were a bunch of tough boys as were the writerz from croydon...

baggy jeans / stussy pants / hoodies / champion gear / British knights / Nikes / fred perry, the happy mondays wore it all.. as did we did in croydon

i remember a very close mate being rolled / bashed by some skin heads at croydon station for his Fred Perry harrington jacket.. (bone colour) the exact same as the one that shaun ryder wears in the scene from 24 HPP when he first meets Bez.. the jacket was stylish that it had a tarten green / red interior lining..

91 - 92 old skool addias started to make a come back.. lead by Bez

in 1992 -3 i had a maroon / white strips pear which came in the original blue addias box..

a year later they were everywhere, madonna even wore them..

heh heh. there was some real classics on those. DMC's mixes often had Brothers in Rhythm, Sanny X, Chad Jackson and others like Dakeyne (blast from the past, didn't realise he became Tinman http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dakeyne) doing exclusive remixes.

My fave ones i have/had were Chad Jackson's mix of PE's Rebel without a Pause & for the 90s, a mix of Culture Beat's No Deeper Meaning with samples from Old Ben Kenobi in the intro!

Snap - The Power
BG The Prince of Rap - This Beat Is Hot
Dance 2 Trance - Rhythm Is A Dancer
Cappella - Move On Baby - an improvement on U Got To Know & U Got To Let The Music at least

The prize though goes to

C&C Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat

Played all over the place, in ads and movie soundtracks, but it was the first track to make me dance and I never get sick of hearing it. Freedom Williams' rap is still one of the coolest I ever heard.

An old favourite of mine. The best thing about this clip has got to be the dancers in the background.

I just realised after reading this thread just how different my 90s was to MOST of the people in this thread. Yes some great tracks were mentioned but a whole heap of cheese. I never got into the comercial stuff. 90s for me was a mix of underground techno and underground hiphop.

I feel I no longer belong on this forum. Thanks for having me, its been a pleasure but I bid you good-day............

 It's the 'Bingles, isn't it?!

It's OK, in the 90s, I wasn't listening to those tunes either, however, they do bring me a sense of nostalgia. Not to mention keeping in line with the original poster's request. ;)

If I'm gonna be true to my roots, 90s = Techno / Trance.

Ace of Base? Yeah, that shit is really hot. Right up there with Aqua.
