I've never been there and hell, I don't even know what it's called, but I always drive past it and see "Beer Garden open Dec-whenever" on the window of a pub in Richmond. It's the one right before the rail underpass, I think it's the Corner Hotel. It looks like it's an upstairs balcony type thing. Have always wanted to have a look. The Hawthorn has an outside area with tables and chair, different levels and a big screen. Only been there at night though. Also the http://www.geebung.com/ in hawthorn has an outdoor area. Been there a few times on a sunday. Hot hot hottttttttttttttt, women, the place was going off. Not sure if it's what you would class as an actual garden, but a decent outdoor area and good place nonetheless. Finishes up pretty early on a Sunday though.

Dunno if there is much in Elwood, you would have to cruise into st kilda to find a beer garden.

Fuck it is a beautiful day today, perfect day to be sitting in a beer garden!

Elwood area, the Elwood lounge has a little outdoor section out back, or Riva on Marina Pde is great for food and drinking just off the water, or Brighton Sea Baths which is right on the water.

My fave though is Yelza on Gertrude St in Fitzroy - new Sunday session starting there today I think called Dusk.

There's pics of it here

I agree with the windsor castle except if you want to just relax and chill it can be quite busy on a weekend night or arvo. Oh well i will be living 1 minute away from there in a few weeks. look out.

Theheath - You may be thinking of the Corner Hotel in Richmond. They should have it open in time for December as they have been doing renovations.

Beer Gardens I frequent apart from my own:

The London in Lennox St Richmond
PA's in Church St Richmond
The Retreat in Sydney Rd Brunswick
Bridies in Sydney Rd Brunswick
Hawthorn Hotel in Burwood Rd Hawthorn

Not really a "beer garden" as such, but sitting in the street at the Elgin in Hawthorn is nice. Elgin St and Burwood Roads.

Someone mentioned the Geebung up there, if you mean the one in Hawthorn, I think it has been turned into their restaurant now, was sadly in there only a couple of weeks ago. The beer is still shit and it's still all Tooheys :(

If I remember more, I will post them.

Also, check out http://www.melbournepubs.com A very valuable resource for the Melbourne pub scene

My favourite beer garden, although I don't live near it anymore is The Micawber Tavern just past Belgrave. It's got a little creek running through the beer garden, heaps of birds and wildlife. Great beer and food.

The Standard on fitzroy st. is my fave local beer garden. Looking forward to finding some new ones this summer.

1. London Tavern (because I live across the road and it's an easy crawl home).
2. The Marquis Of Lorne (ok, only tables and chairs out the front, but they're good).

That is all.

i've always had fun on bimbos rooftop...
if you're after a beer garden in and around elwood... just travel to a small bar called BEAT on Glen Eira Rd in ripponlea...
or if you are in Mornington... go for a beer at any of these establishments; Bay Hotel, The Social, The Royal, Kirks. All have excellent outdoor drinking areas!!

panda OUT!
