This seasons C.S.I Finale is a 2 hour blockbuster directed by Quentin Tarantino. (http://entertainment.news.com.au/story/0,10221,17264459-10229,00.html)
It has already aired in the US and was an end-of-season 2 hour episode.
Channel 9 Australia, by their own decision, has elected to advertise and screen only the FIRST hour (http://blogs.smh.com.au/entertainment/archives/the_tribal_mind/002879.html) of this episode as the finale, and they will be screening the SECOND HALF of the episode at the start of NEXT YEARS season.
Dont let Channel 9 manipulate a brilliant directors vision for the benefit of their own ratings, download the HDTV rip of the CSI season 5 2hr finale here and watch it as intended, and as viewed by CSI fans in other countries:

ha ha ha
made me laugh in the Karl Rove doco last night that the US government targeted advertising towards CSI viewers because they would be easily duped into re-electing Bush,
dummies if you watch CSI.....

Lol at the "I dont care so Im gonna post about it" generation. ;)
Seriously, it's a little too formulaic for me to watch on a weekly basis, but I've seen some excellent episodes. They change writers and directors regularly too so the style of the show does a good enough job of staying varied and fresh to hold my interest.

They have done this with Cold Case the arseholes
When Cold Case finished, Mrs Lamb said "huh, thats wierd, that didnt seem like a series finale, but thats what 9 advertised it as".
I didnt think anything of it until I read that.
Another reason to hate em I suppose. God knows I have enough already. They really dont need to give me more.

I want to see the Tarantino written and directed version.
I want to see him write and direct an episode of The Golden Girls.... Blanche cuts the mailman in half with a samuri sword, the whole gang get into a shootout while picking up a kilo of coke...
they don't mention they're only showing half on the ads. man you'd be pissed off to realize what they've done when it suddenly ends half way through.
seriously though, wtf?
Grissom: This scene looks contrived.....
Yep, it sure does. Tarantino's just recycled some of the themes from Kill Bill & more of his tradmark devices & transplanted them into CSI..... it feels wrong. That scene with Katherine moving with purpose before the ad break had me convinced she would re-emerge on the other side track-suited in yellow.

I can see that too. A lot of the stories are geared towards Neo-Con/Fundamentalist Christian ideals & the consequences of abandoning them.
Not too hard to imagine where Jerry Bruckheimer's allegiances lie. Just as well that most episodes are a damn good watch (unlike tonight's), enough that I can ignore the ultra-patriotic undertones.....

How dare he direct in the style that has made him famous.
In his films, I think he does it effectively..... this was just bad.

I want to see the Tarantino written and directed version.
My bad, it actually was written by him as well as directed - it was an awesome double-episode too, I was like.... :-O

I abhore CSI well and truly. It would have to be a completly different show if Tarantino is involved.
I like CSI :( but the normal one , i cant stand the miami one ... that Caruso fag over acts every scene , and if i see that wanker walk into one more dark crime scene wearing dark glasses , pulling a side on blue steel pose before ever so stylishly whipping his sunglasses of and making some crude dry witted comment im going to throw a cat at the TV ...
The normal CSI is good though , even if it is full of hair brained theories its still interesting..

Agreed Viral, Caruso needs a slap.
And its the same show Nik, so you would still abhore it.

I disagree. I'm pretty sure QT knows what he's doing.

No e. :p
Quite a good episode methinks, although it did pull that annoying overdone "Crime team member in mortal danger for a change: Added Drama!" storyline. I didn't particularly like some of Tarantino's trademark lame character moments that drag on and are somehow meant to be deep but the rest of it worked suprisingly well.
Trust Channel 9 to split this up, bastards. Oh well, thankyou internet :)

This was television though, and Q couldn't very well have Grissom cut off Brass' ear whilst dancin around to Stuck in the Middle.
TV direction has content issues and for a director who directed only one movie below an R rating, it was quite good. Obviously it's a matter of personal opinion whether someone like it or not, but all factors have to be considered.
Some of the character interaction was interesting (eg. the talk brown had in the changeroom with stokes about brown almost getting into a fight ouside of a club) and was very much so Tarantino, who loves and has made famous, classic dialogue between characters.
Having a great director like Tarantino contribute to tv is awesome. Next, I'd like to see David Lynch write and direct an episode of Neighbours.
ps. Channel 9, i know you're not an actual person and won't be reading this anyway but FUCK YOU.
When oh WHEN will be in line with the rest of the world and see things AS they're released rather than many months later?? Is Australia the only country to download eps JUST so we can see them v. close to when they were released???
