View Full Version : Films/Movies - best ever list
Now, I am not sure if this thread has been done before at ITM, but I am sure it has. But as it is coming to Christmas and DVD's/Movies are usually a popular choice of prezzie I thought I would get on out there and list some best ever films I have seen and would highly recommend.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - amazingly funny, interesting and thought provoking and basically a fantastic flick. Has loads of big names - Cate Blanchett, Bill Murry, Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson and more which can be a selling point for some. I saw this recently and have been raving about it since. Already got it on my wish list.
Donnie Darko - black, psychological, teen, romance - Got all these themes and more. Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal are incredible in it. Apparently it is now a cult flick, and I can understand why.
The Royal Tenenbaums - another flick by Wes Anderson (also did Life Aquatic). Really dry and funny, yet not slap-stick funny. About family stuff and the actors - Owen and Like Wilson, Gene Hackman, Gwyneth Paltrow and loads more - are so well cast it isn't funny.
Adaptation - Ahh, Charlie Kaufman. I loved Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but this one takes the cake. Nicholas Cage has a twin! Hilarously funny. Orchids and Meryl Streep, gold.
Other films I consider worthy of mention by me are! - Magnolia, Motorcycle Diaries, Napolean Dynamite, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Somersault, Memento, Fargo, Sin City and Kill Bill 1 & 2.
I would love to see what other people would list in their top 10 lists and what flicks you recommend for others to see/buy.
:)

Add 'Fille sur le pont, La' (aka. The Girl on the Bridge) to that list. Best foreign film I have ever seen. A beautifully constructed romance story. The way Hollywood should do it, if only they could.
