View Full Version : Superman Returns
WoW, with the teaser trailer released just recently, I'm more excited about this than ever!!
I've always said that a good director makes the movie. Hollywood has ruined many great comic book movies (that are ultimately great stories) by rushing them out with shit casts and worse directors in the sake of making a buck. This has been solidified recently by Marvel rushing out such shockers as Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Elektra and Hulk.
On the flip side, Christopher Nolan directing one of the best movies and of the year, Batman Begins as well as XMen and X2 director Bryan Singer absolutely created a world that fans wanted and deserved to see. I'm only sad he isn't around for X3, but the trailer for Superman Returns had me wetting my pants and utterly hooked to the screen.
I simply cannot wait (unfortunately I have to...) for Superman's Return and I now it'll be worth every seconds' wait...
This will be, and i have NO doubt, one of the movies of next year and i only wish that next year was now.
same same! looks killer, i really hope im not disappointed
dean cain would be rolling in his grave.
i was on the set last week ;)

Is the trailer out or just the teaser?
I'm very unimpresssed by the teaser, it looks like they've tried to make superman cool, yet keep his old lame look.
result: uber lame.
I think the look of SR is the 20/30's look from when Superman was first written. Even his suit has that old old skool look to it. The trailer with Jor-El (brando) speaking over top is the trailer I've seen. I'm now not 100% sure if it just a short trailer or a teaser.

I just watched it then, I have never been a big fan of Superman, not just because DC comics suck. But because he is too powerful. its a little boring.
Will give it a go of course but I don't have high hopes.
X3 will be good Bmoney.... have some faith cunt
Batman Cameo!!!

Not an actual physical cameo, but have a read and look for it when the movie comes out!!

Have to agree there, there's very little drama unless someone convieniently finds some kryptonite behind the sofa. Also he's a goody two shoes and looks like a ponce. I prefer my heroes with a little bit of character.
Having said that, I'm interested to see what Hollywood does with Superman after Batman Begins. Maybe superhero movies are improving.

i'm sorry... but DUH! :p

oh and imho i dont think there's anything wrong with Ang Lee as a director (Hulk director) - hard to simplify but the special effects just weren't up to scratch with that movie.. seeing Hulk run and jump around the desert was pretty "comical"!
i'm sorry... but DUH! :p
Not everyone is a director fan, like you and I, and therefore it isn't that obvious to all. Writer/directors for the ultimate WIN of all wins.

Dean Cain?! So new-skool!
George Reeves and Christopher Reeve would be more appropriate.
They're actually dead. ;)

Having said that, I'm interested to see what Hollywood does with Superman after Batman Begins. Maybe superhero movies are improving. the "bit of character" is clark kent having to lie to everyone about his identity, especially the girl he loves, who loves superman but not him. And he often loses his powers completely ... watch for that in this movie.
Also, besides kryptonite, his weakness is that he has become too 'human'. He has human emotions which make him weak and we see that in the way they impact the decisions he makes.
This will be better than a lot of people think.
just stirring! ;D
yeah, you got me good!! And i had my mouf open too!!
I do like Ang Lee's work and it was the only saving grace of Hulk, that plus the clever comic book frame style editing. Hulk just isn't that interesting to me, Guy gets angry, guy turns green and breaks shit. grrrrrr.
Upcoming disasters include Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage /shudders/. I forgot to mention Punisher, which I didn't mind too much, it had some good bits to it, but too much Travolta.
Blade (the first) was pretty cool. Comic book movies should be aimed towards adults with realistic adult storylines/content, not for the kiddies school holiday rubbish. /end rant/
Other non marvel/dc goodness has been pretty good like Hellboy/Constantine but not Spawn. I've heard many a rumour about a Spawn sequel, but it'd want to be good yo...
Just saw the trailer at the movies.
From what I can tell the guy looks spot on for superman and the movie has captured that old school style with new special effects.
I for one foresee this movie as being kickarse.

As much as I'm disappointed that Bryan Singer left the Xmen to do this, I know that in his hands this movie will be awesome. That trailer was awesome. Can't wait.

That actually works out quite well because my cock has been in a constant state of phase after receiving a hummer from Kitty anyway.

I love supey man. to me all the other comic book heros are dead!
An essential characteristic of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero, and there's the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When he wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic that Superman stands alone. Superman did not become Superman, Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S", that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears, the glasses, the business suit, that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He's weak, he's unsure of himself... he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race. Sort of like Beatrix Kiddo and Mrs. Tommy Plympton
Best quote on super heros ever!
I'm Super!! Thanks for Asking!!
