10 bucks says they air half the first season in prime time, realise its not rating, move it to a later slot, start up the second season at some obscure time then stop showing it halfway thru 2nd season.

Doesn't that sound familiar.
I really hope they stick to their word. It might actually encourage me to turn on my tv to a commercial station once again. Lately SBS and ABC have been getting all my love.
about time. and i still don't understand why nobody is showing family guy. the dvd's have a huge following and they're still making new episodes...

Sweet! A lot of the time the "non-ratings" period seems to throw up some good shows. Scrubs was on last year along with Family Guy and (IIRC) Arrested Development (though that was on at 12am). A welcome relief from Generic Reality Show #137456.

True.....but then look at all the garbage they're filling the screens with this summer, too. Veronica Mars..."It's like the OC meets Twin Peaks", what the fuck? Or how about Blind Justice, imagine the pitch for that: "He's a detective, and he loses his sight, but metaphorically never takes his eyes off solving crime, and - wait for it, this is the best part - it's called BLIND JUSTICE! It's kind of like Veronica Mars meets CSI."
Fuck. Off.
Anyway, I think Futurama will be very successful this time around. It's got a huge DVD following now. Plus Ch 10 seem to be (slightly) more patient with their programming than it's commercial counterparts.

I guess you didn't get the point of my post.
Maybe in an OC / Orange County kind of way then?

I love non-ratings periods. They take away all the trash TV (home & away, neighbours, any reality tv show) and replace them with shows I might actually watch. It's a rare period in a TV year.
could never get into futurama!!
i will give it my best wen it comes on tv... !!

talking of ch10s 'patience' i saw the other day that the non rating period has brought out the final series of secret life of us
hehe...i mean, i cant remember watching it before, but now its been sitting in the cupboard for a couple of years, im sure it will have aged like a nice red wine (at least a nice 2l cask)
from what i saw, there doesnt seem to be a story line, its just sex. but im okay with that

Obscure times, lack of network commitment and showing it out of series sequence is why I think it wan't a hit here in Australia back in 2000. And it doesn't surprise me when I now read channel 7 is starting season 4 with episode 4.

hahaha true. It's funny that they're admitting the series' lack of originality in the ads.
"just like another hit show, but slightly different!"

This means didderlie to me because
1. I have Foxtel,
2. I won all 4 Futurama dvds and
3. I want to see the series continue.
People get paid to state their opinions??? I find this idea very humourous indeed. Perhaps if they wrote something about a tv show that was objective I would understand their "profession." Anyway I think the show is fairly originaleven if it does continue on with Matt Groenings ideas of focussing the show around a main character who is thick and loveable.

All I can say is yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Has anyone else noticed that Channel 10 seems to be getting plenty of their recent programmes from other channels? "Smallville, here on 10 where it should be". Well why didn't you get it the first time around muthas?

I actually watched Veronica Mars today. It was okay. Nothing special, but better than it looks on an add. It's quite quirky.
I hope Futurama lasts this time though. Such an awesome cartoon. Could easily rival the Simpsons if given the chance.
heh yeah veronica mars wasn't as rubbish as i was expecting.
and is it true that the only episode that matt groening actually wrote was the first one? all subsequent eps written by david x cohen...? can't remember where i read that.
