Managed to weazle my way onto the door list for Breakdown at Home on Sunday night.
Paying the price for it now - Tuesday evening.
But a pretty solid night all round. I was mainly there for two reasons. 1. I had never been to Home before and 2. NuBreed were playing.
In all honesty I felt the fact that NB were up on a level fairly high above the crowd detracted somewhat from the vibe. That is not to say the vibe was crap - far from. But the closeness - the reach out and touch the crowd setup - that we had in Canberra was just far superior.
I also think the flow and structure of the set was better in Canberra - much more energetic. Danny, the "frontman", backs this up. He said to me that when he was asked what his most memorable gigs have been, he said there were obvious standouts liek Two Tribes etc. But the Canberra gig was the real surprise - easily one of their fave gigs so far.
Home as a venue is amazing. A great layout, with tonz of cool places to explore. The sound system in the main room wasn't EQ'd very well though - the treble was painful.
Big cheers to everyone who sketched out on Monday morn in the hotel suite and witnessed me fall asleep practically mid-sentence. 3 Melbourne fellas, 7 Canberra lads, and a Sydney girl. Was cool.
And now I wanna crawl into bed. Ergh.
