Whats the go? They are a shitload cheaper than retail, are they ok?

you'll find they're probably non-genuine batteries. be careful of third party products like that.

Yep, there is a shitload of non-oem li-ion packs going for about $8-10.

They are probably fine but remember that a dodgy pack can explode/ignite and leave your expensive device a pile of ashes.

I still recommend that any Canon DSLR buyer should get a spare battery, but feel free to buy a suspiciously inexpensive off-brand battery on eBay; you may well find you hardly ever use the thing, so there's no point paying four times as much for a genuine Canon battery that'll be dead in a few years anyway.

Man for a snappy camera who cares ... the batteries for my Sony V1 were $120 retail ..

I bought 2 for $30 on eBay and they work great ... better than my Sony ones even ... having said that though , they're still massivly yumcha , and i wouldnt buy one for my SLR or a more expensive camera..
