It looks like the show is the closest it's ever been to being resurrected:

Im sick of this.....

Yes Family Guy was brought back from the dead....maybe Futurama will....... but there is no way I will beleive till I see it.....

These are just the same no evidence stories that have been going round since the shows demise.

Give me prrof (not just theories based on the fact one show was revived) or STFU
I don't need anymore false hope this show will return

I had no idea fox canned it! Those A holes! I hope it comes back, Ive only just come to fully appreciate that show! Its gold!

Side note: I love the lines in Family guy, but cant stand the mothers voice and they need a stronger story line to keep up with their one liners. Brilliant comedy just needs to be polished!

I'm a bit sceptical about resurrecting Futurama... it's kind of like an unfinished symphony that doesn't really need finishing to be a masterpiece. I like how it just ceases at the end of season 4.

It's like the James Dean of cartoons, died young and beautiful, and we never had to put up with its decline from grace as it became a bloated, unhealthy, mundane future-history cartoon like the rest of them, full of tired jokes and rehashed storyboards.

"The Simpsons" series XXXVIII-whatever anyone?

Bender: "Fascinating!.... no wait, what's that other word?... Tedious."

I do feel that Futurama was cut off just as it was hitting its stride though, so if they bring it back then I'll definitely be checking it out.

didn't they tie it all up though with fry winning leela?

i'm kinda with tim-e. i mean, i reckon futurama had the opportunity to be the greatest cartoon of all time, but too many shows are just given too long. tying it up puts it in that class where you will forever hunger for more, and respect it.

\The show didn't get a chance to retire whilst it was on top. The Simpsons reached its prime in season 6 (maybe 7...) and Futurama should have been allowed to go for that long.

Personally I'd much rather see Matt Groening come up with something brand new again.

One of my Futurama quotes;
Bender - "I'm sick."
Amy - "Why not take some zinc?"
Bender - "I'm 40% ainc."
Amy - "Or what about eccinatia, or St John's wart?"
Professor - "Or a big fat placebo. Either way it's all the same crap!"

Seasons 4 through 6, honorable mentions to the bookends of those seasons.

^^^IMO Season 5 saw a dip in form for the Simpsons. Season 7 is a lot funnier overall.

Anyway this is about Futurama hehe... perhaps if they did another season they could take the setting to the year 4000 or 5000.

leela: "impressive, they're busting mad rhymes with an 80% success rate."

bender: "i believe that qualifies as 'ill', at least from a technical standpoint."

fry: "will you guys shut up? I'm trying to look cool."

hell is other robots = best.episode.ever.

if they are bringing it back, i hope they don't just keep going and going until it's tired :(

i've loved it for far too long to see it go down the gurgler.

i also agree. why spoil something good by trying to resurrect it.

that said, if they do make more i will watch it, and hopefully it'll be fantastic

Bit of an update guys, i found Billy West's website (Voice of Fry).

He has a forum on their and recently announced on the 19th of January this year that he has been booked to go into the studio end of july to record 4 futurama dvd movies.

HERE'S GREAT NEWS!
Here's the official word on Futurama!!
David X. phoned me about an hour ago and said that this Futurama project
is a done deal! Here's the word from DX---
There are 4 DVD movies that we'll start recording at the end of July or
August.Full feature length FUTURAMA movies.
Everybody is excited to get back together--as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy

Here's the link, Billy's post is at the bottom of the page:

Internet Movie Database says that a futurama of some sort is to be released in 2007, don't know how accurate that is though.

Hope this helps...

That is all.

Announcer: "And the winner is number three, in a quantum finish"
Farnsworth: "No fair!! You changed the result by measuring it!"

That's some serious rofl right there. Apparently the writers all had PhD or Masters level qualifications in a variety of scientific fields, hence the extra intelligent hidden nerd humour that goes over the heads of the people still laughing at Bender's fart jokes.

so stoked about futurama coming back

for all you folk saying it would be stale, if you have listened to the audio commentary's you would know that they had the first 6 or so seasons planned out

the episode in season 4 where fry travels back in time to beat the brains, you can see nibblers shadow under the table in episode one where he makes fry fall into the cryogenic freezer, thus beating the brains

david cohan has said that there was alot more planned and hinted at in the early episodes that they never got the time to finish telling the story

awesome, awesome to the max

Yeh they had the series mapped out pretty well from the word go. I'm very keen to see more futurama as there's still plenty more to be told. Hoorah!

This blew my mind. I saw the episode in season four and then when episode one aired again and I saw nibbler under the table I was amazed at their forward-planning.

Cant wait to see the new stuff!
