For those who know how good he is, he's playing live at The Key this Saturday night (21st Jan). I'd hate for anyone who likes his work to miss out on seeing him. :thumb:

The Admiral

and fred everything in room three, too.
i'd like to go to either or both, but i don't think i will, because i don't trust myself not to get absolutely munted.
edit: actually i think fred everything is the following week. can't be bothered to go to the fabric website and check.
They went a bit mad with all the Trentemoller posters in Angel - everywhere you look there's a flyer somewhere. Should be a good night though.
Anyone know what his "live" setup is?

Francois was great last time I saw him. Except 6 hours into his set he brought out some African poet who improvised a load of bollocks over some shitty dub reggae at 4am. Everyone left the room and went to listen to Mylo instead.

He did play some frickin' great tunes but lost me at times.
I'm all for people appreciating lots of different styles of music but I fookin' hate it when rekkid spinners(Francois K and Garnier are the prime culprits) have to show us how eclectic their record collection is, some d&b in the midst of some quality techno and house is not what is called for.Still, did give me a chance to catch a bit of Amalgamation of Soundz upstairs for a bit and they were playing some high quality plushness, well enjoyed them for an hour or so.

Francois is not nearly as 'eclectic' as Garnier and from memory it was only a couple of drum and bass tracks that marred on otherwise top set. Hearing my favrourite Jonson track 'Guided by Angels' in the early hours capped off the night perfectly for me. The guy is 51 years old and wears sandals with socks to his gigs. What a legend :thumb:

yeah well you know that 'trust' exercise you do on gay school camps where you let yourself fall blindfolded into the outstretched hands of your group who are circled around you?
that was me @ the key. ditched vision and coordination and just spent the entire set swaying with the crowd.
and i made a dangerous discovery. techno on looooads and looooads of booze is PROPER fun.

The Key was rammed on Saturday. We only survived the queue because we were already so fucking drunk. Well worth it though. He bleeped and squawked like a trooper and even played live remixes of Windowlicker, Song 2, Spastik (!) and Aerodynamik. And fucking Coincidance too. Proper fucking chunky fun noise!

I'd hardly call that set eclectic. There was only 1 dnb track from memory in an almost 4 hour set of non stop techno.
The last track he played was fucking amazing. :-0

Trentemoller's also playing live at Turnmills on the 25th February, along with John Dahlback, Justin Robertson, Ladytron, Philippe Zdar from out of Cassius, Tim Sheridan, Rob Da Bank, Cuban Brothers, Zero 7, etc, etc, plus they're opening room 4 for a proper Cockney knees-up around the piano, which will be considerably better than Philippe Zdar from out of Cassius.

I might go to this or King Unique at The Cross on the same night. Or I might stay in and eat cheese on toast.
