That was an awesome, jaw-dropping victory and one of, if not, the, all time funniest gold medal win ever.

The fact that I gave up at halftime and thought that more sleep would be better than continuing to see Liverpool getting smashed still haunts me to this day.
As for mad moments in sport, I don't think they come much madder than Mike Tyson biting Holyfield's ear off. Closely followed by the jockey who whacked another jockey with his whip after a race a few weeks ago.

Hopoate's karate chop last yaer in mid air on the kicker ...... f*ck that was bad
Ambrose and Murphy almost going the biff half way up Mt Panorama.
Rob Machado giving five to Kelly Slater as he cruised out of a big Pipe barrel, after Kelly got a sick one the wave before, '97 Pipe Finals.
^^^ yeh that jockey on jockey whip action was kind of horrifyingly funneh! sif horse racing isn't dangerous enough without the added aggro of an angry, rapid-weight-loss deranged midget letting loose mid-race.
so anyways, on another track.... there's an ad on telly at the mo for health insurance or some such, which shows a javelin throw, which lands in an old referee geezers shoulder! is that for real? huh? it's so disturbing and yet funneh at the same time, especially for the fact he acts like he's OK for the first few seconds.
Haven't seen the ad but I remember the incident, so yeah, it's real. Ouch.

I remember a Grand National horse race which was almost called off because it had been raining in England on every day for about 11 months and the course was saturated.
In the end they decided to go ahead and the whole race descended into farce.
From the off the going was so heavy that horses were slipping at fences and crashing into each other throwing jockeys into the boggy mud.
One collision at the first main corner involved about 15 horses and it was bedlam. Those that managed to get round them found themselves alone and out in front.
About half way through the race there were about 10 of the 40 horses that started left. A horse threw its rider going over the fence and he attempted to get back on. After all, he was in the lead pack and some of the other horses still going were two or three fences back. Every time the jockey moved towards his horse, the horse trotted a few paces away. As the mud was so boggy, the jockey was having problems running and looked like he was walking through water. Then the jockey got really close, the horse did the bolt and jumped the next fence. The jockey was left jumping up and down at the fence swearing at his disloyal horse for leaving him there.
I was fucking wetting myself at the sight of midget man hopping up and down in the mud as his dreams of a National Victory went trotting up the course.
Only 6 horses finished and a couple of those riders were people who had actually fallen off and recaptured their horses before they got over a fence (which disqualifies you).
Oh to see a replay of that race.

1986 Game 6 world series mets v red sox. Mets come from behind in the 10th to steal a world series from the sox due to a horrible error by bill buckner. as unlikely and impossible win there could be.
Ice hockey, worst injury in sports.
Clint Malarchuk (May 1, 1961, Grande Prairie, Alberta) is a former Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played in the NHL between 1981 and 1992. He is probably best known for an injury sustained during one of the most horrific in-game incidents in sports history.
Malarchuk played for the Québec Nordiques, Buffalo Sabres, and Washington Capitals throughout his career. He was a very competent but not great goalie, with a career record of 141 wins, 130 losses, 45 ties, and 12 shutouts, and a 0.885 save percentage.
The notable incident occurred during a game on March 22, 1989 between the visiting St. Louis Blues and Malarchuk's Buffalo Sabres. Steve Tuttle of the Blues and Uwe Krupp of the Sabres collided at the mouth of the goal, and Tuttle's skate caught Malarchuk on the throat, slicing open his outer jugular vein. With pools of blood collecting on the ice, Malarchuk somehow left the ice under his own power with the assistance of his team's trainer, Jim Pizzatelli. Meanwhile, many spectators were physically sickened by the sight, and local television cameras covering the game instantly cut away from the sight of Malarchuk.

Hell yeah, I remember watching that and thinking "oh shit Hoppa, you've really done it now..." the whole of Brookvale Oval went dead silent even though Manly were caning the Sharks at that point.
Another one, the "fan man" incident when the guy parachuted into the ring during the Rddick Bowe - Evander Holyfield world title fight in 1993. That was like "what the fuck?!...."
That horse race in Ireland a couple of months back where the leading jockey pulled up 100m before the finish line and started celebrating as if he had won the race. Meanwhile, at least two other horses passed him before the actual finish line, relegating him to third. Only in Ireland...
