Quietly cheering for Portugal all the way I couldn't contain myself when Beckham utterly fucked the penalty and I let out this almighy cheer. Had to hightail it out of there right after as the entire pub looked like they were about to lynch me. ;D

the english site isn't up yet, but it pretty much says love parade got financial support from Mcfit, so can happen again on July 15th. it also just says how it's remaining a free party, but this year has more international focus and we can also suggest dj's that we want there blah blah blah. basically, it's happening!

the last 5 minutes are the best, showing footage from when it was at its hugest- if you're into this whole scene there's no way you cant be moved seeing images of die Strasse des 17 Juni filled end to end with people as far as the eye can see... (and if you know berlin, you know how fucking huge that street is)


berlin is a special city- even the smaller events they had on last year and the year before in place of the actual love parade were totally unique- just because they were there. you can go to a street parade or other love parade nearly anywhere in the world now (sort of), but you just cant compare those with walking down the Kurfurstendamm next to the haunting ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche surrounded by thousands of people dancing in the street...


the massive parties all over the city that night also go off.

plus, if you're into techno or proper electro- hmm- put it this way- after nearly a year i'm still trying to track down stuff that sounds even remotely as good as what i heard there...

British Airways were the cheapest I found to Berlin. Always worth checking them out when you travel in Europe, they beat EasyJet in price half the time, and usually fly to/from closer airports.

So I'm at a campsite in Rome... they have a pool there, but it closes at 10pm or something... which is no good at 1am when you're pissed.

So anyway, a group of us jump the fence and strip off... but the girls hesitate and make too much noise coming to a decision which in turn attracts security... so everyone legs it... I go through a gap in the fence which leads to a pretty step decent to some tents... I ofcourse fall over and slide down this hill (in my undies) and then fall off a 1.5 metre retaining wall.

While laying on the ground, cut up and bleeding, I thought to myself... what would the security guards have done anyway? tell me off? but then... I was drunk... and you don't always make smart decisions when you're drunk.

Such optimism... for what turned out to be such a shitty day.

Here's what happened to me.

So I leave the bunch of guys I'm standing with during the parade to go take a piss behind a tree in the park... after I finish some german guy with his shirt off comes running up to me, and after we work out i am not German, he and his couple of mates decide to impose a fine of 10 euro for pissing in the park... I look around to see countless other people doing it...so i try to walk off, one of them grabs me, i try to keep going, he rips my shirt... now all of this is happening in front of hundreds of people, and not one german nazi wanker f#ck would help me, one guy came over, the guy holding me said something to him in german, and he just walked off. In the end I gave them 10 euro and they let me go. It was one of the most bizarre and scary things that have happened to me on this trip through europe.After that I could not get into the Parade at all, I drank so much, but stayed sober, smoked some weed, had no effect. Worst day ever.

Man Brick! - what a rough time you're having..

We had a really good day: We met loads of nice Germans, plenty of Aussies and got some quality video footage of nutters. 2.50 Euro beers was a treat. The music was decent, and when it wasn't we moved on to find a float where it was.

We'd definitely do it again, we had a laugh the whole day - and for a change didn't find anyone who took themselves too seriously..

Had a great time, went in with really low expectations for the music and was pleasantly surprised by a few floats. But then there was always Tiesto to ruin it for everyone :lol:

Highlights:
- The whole circus vibe and randomness
- Alcohol was never more than 10 metres away, no queuing
- Float 7 Fire Sessions: an oasis of wobble/metalheadz style griminess in a desert of 4x4. Drum & Bass and skanky girls with whips, what a perfect combination. Followed this float up to Brandenburg Gate as the sun was setting, that was special.
- Seeing a 2 year old in a stroller going off to some float
- Staggering out of the bushes and hearing that Da Hool tune
- Catching Tiefschwarz and Anthony Rother at ColumbiaHalle later on that night
- Discovering I still had sunnies on me when we left the club in the morning

Lowlights:
- Ending up with a pocketful of drink tokens that could have paid for a small East German apartment if I could have figured out how to refund them
- Missing the free lesbian sex show
- Whistles. OMGSTFU.

Bloody awesome. One of the coolest things I've ever been to. Any idea how many people there were?

Highlight: 3 fit chicks with bare fake boobs, miniskirts and no underwear, putting on a sex show 1 metre from where I was standing. There was licking, slapping, and groping. I will post pics later.

I had the best day! So trashy. We followed float 2, pretty much all day. It was fantastic and the weather was awesome. The day was 10/10 and then followed by an even better night. Dave Seamen at Sage Club! It went off.

that was seriously the best 'event' experience i have ever had.

i know it's supposed to be all commercial now but partying with 850,000 (they reckon 1.2 million but i think that's overestimated) of the most random people in the world was the highlight. everyone got dressed up or undressed, but it wasn't pretentious at all. just lots of people getting into it, getting a bit fruity (although i didnt see too much trashiness i must admit - weird) and seriously going OFF for 12 hours.

so many interesting people to look at - fit bitches, fit guys, freaks, boobs, minge, hilarious outfits, kids, strippers, old ladies, people from all walks of life getting into it.

i was quite surprised that the vast majority of the trucks were playing absolute top shelf tunes, but then again - it was berlin so would you expect anything less. i think i only cringed about 4 times during the day when the tiesto float went past, then the space one went past, and maybe 2 other trance trucks went by.

whoever was playing on float 13 (GSR - Great Stuff Recordings??) around 1pm at the brandenberg tor was playing some brilliant tracks (where's phatman when you need him - he knew them all). we followed that truck for hours. that drum & bass float was hectic. the trenton / clique float (i'm not too sure if they are the official names?) dropped some sensational clicky house and the people on that float were all really lovely, lots of crowd interaction instead of dancing atop looking beautiful.

we left the parade before it got dark (thank god, i saw what tiesto played on TV later on in the night, horrible horrible. Villalobos also slammed it out surprisingly) and we didnt manage to go out afterwards but it didnt matter - we were so satisfied with such a brilliant day, that we were quite happy to go to bed.

tripi taka went to the bpitch party at watergate though, another aussie we met went to aril brikha at berghain (omg can't believe i didnt go - bitch of a venue to find though). if it's on next year we will definitely be back, for longer.

bpitch was the highlight. :thumb: fking FAB night.

watergate is a wicked venue riiight down on the water, with a pontoon outside where we chilled and watch the sun come up. well, the ACTUAL highlight was watching one of our mates strip and dive off the pontoon into the filthiest water i've seen. and security telling him to quit it, with horrifed looks on their faces.. shaking their heads in disbelief. so fking gross.

there were some very cool parties along the river near the east side gallery the following night as well.

am fking exhausted now, but i'm glad i pushed myself to club hop all wkend. berlin is mad. i love it. i'm gonna move there.

What an awesome festival and a fun city to explore.

Banging tunes on phat systems, people being happy for no reason (or maybe they were on ecstasy, but who cares), cheapish grog, chicks of all shapes and sizes in g-strings and french undies.

Yet another reminder that as much stuff as there is going on, the best thing about London is getting out of London. :thumb:
