I just bought a best of the 90's cd! ha ha It's got

CORONA- Rhythm of the night
BLACKBOX
CULTURE BEAT- Mr Vain (Remember the clip to this, wierd fruit orgy in a mansion)
LA BOUCHE- Be my Lover

This stuff is cheesy as hell but it really brings back memories for me. The very start of my dance music awakening watching RAGE as a 12 year old. Ahh the memories. The commercial dance back then had much better production too....very german and trancey.

Any other old classics?

Yeah, also gettin' a kick out of Top40 dance stuff from the 90s.

While you're there, check out:

"Something Good" - Utah Saints

Great piece of old skool commercial fodder (that also got rave airplay) :thumb:

Another that comes to mind, "Rockin' For Myself" - Motiv8.

Ummmm...

Rhythm is a Dancer
TREATY!!
100% Pure Love (still one of the hottest songs EVER)
Everybody's Free (to feel good) and UltraNate's Free
that Chimney song?? Really weird lyrics...
Amber's Sexual was well wicked!!
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna love you right
NTrance re-working Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, farkin loved this! Still do!
Snap's The Power
Groove is in the Heart (and now the remix has come out to play, and so I'm a happy camper!)
EVERBODY DANCE NOW!!!
Run DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That
Vengaboys!!! Every track was the same, and I loved all of them 'the venga bus is coming'; 'up.... and down'; 'we're going to ibiza'
King of my Castle

Loads more- mid 90's was when those funny tracks came onto radio with the sweet girl singing about love, and the (what sounded like a big, black man!) would come and do a rap ie Another Night (another dream, but always you ;) ). There were heaps of them, I adored them all ;D

God it was a fun lot of music that came out. Complete lack of pretentiousness with no intentions other than to make people dance uninhibited and with no cares. Simple and Farkin effective!!

Hey Mr L,

Wow! This rings a bell. Do you know what year did it get released in Australia - or for that matter, what year did the video clip get produced?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQHnhcDWEJQ&feature=related

I worked with a girl at Channel 10 called Skye who stared in a local version of the clip for this song, miming of course! That would have been about early 1995. Not sure how well known the clip was as the Corona version then took over within a year later. I'd even have send-ups of her on the Channel 10 end-of-year Christmas party goof-tapes in storage somewhere.

Looking at the clip above (and note that's an Aussie screening too, complete with the RAGE logo), and I'm pretty sure that's the clip (with Skye) though her face looks slightly different then I remember. Same blonde hair, same outfits and dancing style (although wasn't that how everyone looked/danced back then?). EDIT: Looking at it again, yep, pretty damn sure that's hair. Easy on the eyes too. I remember her first day she arrived to work where I trained her in the Transfers dept, complete with skin-tight white pants (her that is, I wore a dress). Had the whole floor talking.

Also interesting is that according to the notes here for Corona's Try Me Out,
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Corona
...he original Lee Marrow version you/I posted is actually sung by the girl-later-known-to-be Whigfield.

I wasn't such a fan of Whigfield, especially that tacky "Sexy Eyes" track:

I saw the other day that DJ Bobo was making a comeback ah ha ha. Remember "Love is all around" that guys mc'ing (if you could call it that) is hilarious!

DJ Bobo's 'Somebody Dance With Me' was massive. I'm sure he ripped off one line from every hip house track ever written and just combined them all to make his "raps".

All great tuuness. They were the days.

how about the chessiest one of all hocus pocus - here's johnny. That was my first CD single. ha ha ha.
Does anyone remember and i'm not sure if im in the right thread for this but in 99 there was a radio station in Sydney called 99.3FM. They released a compilation CD called 1. I used to have this CD but it has been lost in the annuls of time.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy. I tried amazon but they had run out and I do not believe it is in print anymore. If anyone has a copy I would love to get my hands on it or even "burn" a copy.

Heres a couple more:

Shades of rhythm - big bass drum
Any Ultrasonic tune
Any Scooter
bits n pieces - 1,2,3....eh

I can't think of anymore too many to remember.

EDIT: And doesn't Andrew Klippel look like Seascape (Old Skool forum member?) ;)

A bit more info..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphoria_(Australian_band)

Interesting to read that one of the girls was later replaced by model, Jodie Meares (or is that Johdi, or whatever cheesy spelling she changed it to).

EDIT2: Some more research...

http://www.drunkenvictim.com/euphoria/index.html

"Euphoria's original line-up included writer, keyboardist and vocalist Andrew Klippel who was joined by the stunning vocals of Keren Minshull and the eye-candy of Holly Garnett (who's vocals complemented Keren's ideally). Holly's eventual departure from the group mid-1992 led to her replacement with Jodie Meares..."

And also of interest...
"...The introduction of the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Dance Chart is widely attributed to Euphoria's ability to chart outside the normal bounds of highly-publicised-pop."

So much Euphoria love! :bl:

So much Euphoria love! :bl:

More Euphoria love (and a slight scandal)! According to Minshull, Garnett didn't sing on 'Love You Right', but was co-opted into the film clip as a bit of eye-candy and it appears as if she's singing. Garnett was rumoured to have a "connection" with someone at the record company  Minshull was later given much more of a role in the 'One In A Million' film clip.

I would always get Andrew Klippel confused with the frontman of Aussie act Culture Shock! Satisfy The Groove - now there's some old school commercial dance, complete with Pee Wee remixes.

I knew Holly was lip syncing the vocals, apparently she was Andrew Kippell's girlfriend at the time. The funny thing is Keren looks very pretty. They were trying to break into the American market and the group fell apart.

I didn't like Satisfy The Groove but My Enemy was OK, Pee Wee's German Hard Trance mix of My Enemy is quite good.

I hope he does - it's awesome! And the original of 'I Feel It' (without the 'Yo DJ, let's move those feet') is one of my favourite pieces of 90s commercial dance. I'm after the original mix that isn't on the CD single or the vinyl; it came out on DJ Beats Vol. 1.

I don't think I saw anyone mention U.S.U.R.A. - Open Your Mind?

This track will just never die in my playlist. The Chart Remix is the best long version in my opinion, it's like an extended dub version of the original, also samples a little more of the Total Recall film.

An interesting bit of trivia: Its main riff is sampled from a beautiful Simple Minds track called New Gold Dream. Check it out, it's so surprising and I only discovered this a couple of years ago.

I do a classic tracks section on my blog and in the latest post have featured Urban Cookie Collective's "The Key, The Secret", which includes a little Q&A with the group's founder Rohan Heath. Thought it might be of some interest to the peeps on here :)
