Anyone else watch the first footy show last night on Channel 9 with new hosts James Brayshaw & Garry Lyon???

Thought it lacked massively compared to when Eddie did it. Obviously it's gunna take years for them to get where Eddie was with presenting it for 12yrs but JB looked like he was shitting himself.

Gunna be an interesting season, especially as it's the last one that Channel 9 will be broadcasting for a while.

I expect Garry Lyon to jump ship to Channel 7 next year and help headline 7 coming back to AFL broadcasting.

yeh you kinda realise eddie was quite a funny bloke and without him keeping sam in line from his inane chatter, it gets a little emabarassing. that jackson five skit made me cringe.

I didnt mind the show, they should let Aker run it!!!

I didn't mind it, thought it was a steady start. Would not surprise me if they were put on a fairly tight leash for the first few episodes. Dunno if any of you ever caught "Any Given Sunday" last season with Sam, Garry and JB. That was some funny television, and I'd be guessing theyre gonna take this down the same path. One thing that always irked me about Eddie is that he wasn't on the same level as the players, having never played "elite" sport. Whereas now, Sam, Garry and James (shield cricket) all know what its like to be a player....I hope they have panelists that like to speak their minds too, such as Hird, Brown, Aker, Richo etc.

i disagree. eddie provided the juxtaposition and balance. how does jb playing shield cricket put him on the same level as an afl footballer? yes he played competitve sport but cricketers are a different kettle of fish altogether. eddie had much more to do with footballers than jb probably has through 20+ years in the sport.

I stopped watching due to Eddie, once he became collingwood president the show became to politically straight and narrow and he totally lost his sense of humour for all things collingwood. His total anti-interstate clubs diatribe all drove me to the point of wanting to kill those close to me.

I love JB his humour is what is needed give them a few weeks and peeps will be loving it i reckon.

JB is a king.... listenin to him commentate on triple m is a pissa... the simple shite he puts on the players is gold...
personally they should scrap gary lyon... he just aint funny, and hes boring.. JB culdnt run it by himself tho, especially with sam next to him.... they need someone that can hold the fort down like what eddie did.. but gary lyon is just plain simple the wrong choice...
