I hate to be a negative nelly and winge and moan (cause I 'ate it when other people do it) but .... pleeeeeeeaaaaase believe me when I say DO NOT waist your time, money and effort buying any of the Fantazia set's. Absolute rubbish!!!!!

Ok (taking a deep breath)... they are a record/piece of our rave history, however the people who are responsible for putting these out made no effort from the recording, editting and presentation right down to the packaging!!!! X(

a) The CD's are not labelled correctly (ie mix/DJ name) and in addition to that they are just paper stick-on labels (something I would expect on ebay but not from an offical site).... and who the hell is Sugar Kay (is that Ray's alias?)

b) DJ sets are not actually on the one CD (eg half of PeeWee's "titled" CD is actually Yap's mix (and... ok dats don't run for ever).. but there has been no effort made to do any wave editing at all - so at least PeeWee's and Nik's sets (which are the best two I might add) aren't on the tale end of some other messy bastard like Crisis!!!!

c) The person/owner of these recordings has placed random track markings (no idea!!!) not that that should really matter as they are live mixes, but how dare Fantazia actually market/ sell this product and get away with this???!!!!!

For shame!!!!!

Well I've said my peace.....

:slap:

Now I'm going to bed to cry..... :~(

Sorry mate, I should have made my warnings in the past more clearer. :(

I'm not sure if Fantazia have ever been known for their quailty/honesty.

Did you get the Crisis set? The Nik Fish mix actually starts on the tale end, and if you've got it, could you please check that those last few tracks play ok? They skip back and forth like any dodgy CD playing from its outer edge. It's not the fault of my copy specifically, the seconds count up fine, so it's a fault of the master it was burnt from.

Yeah, they're a discrace. I haven't had the energy (maybe up until now) to hit 'em up with a nasty complaint. Aside from the sloppy editing of sets, and the skips on the tale end of a couple of discs, the Fantazia Australia Sydney Tour '94 - Dave Kirkpatrick disc (which has some superb house-ier stuff on it) has been recorded or mastered too hot, so the damn peaks of the kick drums clip and therefore crackle/pop on the beat of each drum. Rubbish, eh?!!

Though not as bad as the DVDs of the event. Might have been shot on broadcast quality gear (analogie BetacamSP of the era), the audio is capture on the on-camera mics (yuck!) and its got the timecode friggin' burnt into the top of the screen. It's as if they're selling the raw footage, complete with timecode, suitable only for an editor to maybe one day put it together into a finished piece.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Again, sorry to not have made my previousl discust more known. I did kind of know what I was getting myself into as I owned half the originals on audio tape bought back then.

:(

EDIT: Just re-read your post re Crisis/NikFish set. If you could let me know re skips, that'd be great. I really love that "I wanna be the one... DJ is keeping the beat" track w/female vocals. If your ok, perhaps I can work out a way to get a copy of it...

... AND THEN WE"LL LAUNCH OUR ASSAULT ON THEIR SORRY ASSES!!!! X(

Ok... I want everyone to be reassured I blame no-one in regards to my purchase!!!! The hint's were there, I was just blinded by the excitment of re-living the night/experience!!!

Spectrum,

Mate I bought the whole goddam lot, so yeah I got all the sets, however it does sound like the issue is actually with the master as mine is also farked in the same place... sorry!!

When (.....and IF) I get the chance I'll re-edit/remaster the lot and host them to spite the dodgey MoFo's @ Fantazia!!!!!!

I feel your complaint is completely valid. No need to justify it. I have strong background with music production and so my expectations are often higher than the general punter, still these releases really are shoddily done. And they didn't have to be. Anyway.

Yeah, I'd been thinking of tidying them up too. Now that i've got your experience to back me up, I may now hit 'em up with my feedback. Not in the zone right now to do it, but your post has got me geared up again. Are you in Australia or UK right now? I know one of the guys on this Forum is UK. Not that it matters, I've got Fantazia's email address here somewhere anyway.

Oh, and thanks for the track ID (It's the one before Force Mass Motion's Panic?). It was on a Nik Fish Musiquarium tape of mine from 1993 that I thrashed a decade ago. Never heard it anywhere else 'til this mix.

Talk soon mate. :)

No mate I'm in the land of OZ... I paid for mine via Paypal so I've lodge a complaint via them hoping for a refund!!!

Yeah, the breakbeat track before Panic... "Deep, deep, deepa da deepa.... I want to be the one... the dj is spinning the beats!" etc etc

Actually you may want to check my id with Seascape first as he actually thrashed that track at nearly every rave he played at in early 94!!! It also appears on his Live in Brisbane tape too (PM me and i'll send you a copy).

But I'm pretty sure it's Deepa (NRG Remix).
