i need to improve my concentration...

any ideas out there that might work? I generally eat healthy, if anything too much meat.... I've heard they exist, but do they actually work?

Zinc is good for concentration. Aside from taking tablets, I'm not actually sure what foods are naturally high in zinc.

Bananas maybe? Not sure, someone will know...

fish oil, magnesium, anything for stress.

also regulating your blood sugar levels by eating low GI will make you more mentally clear.

cutting down your dependence on stimulants like caffeine could help in the long term, but will be tough in the short term!

The best way would be to avoid high glycemic carbs (lollies, coke, whitebread etc.) as fluctuations in your blood sugar will tend to make u sleepy.

If you keep your blood sugar steady throughout the day, you should be able to concentrate much better.
You do this by regularly eating grain bread, fruits, cereals, wheat pasta etc. Adding protein/fat rich foods will also help stabilise blood sugar.

Other than that, notropics are your friend :)

notropics?

i don't eat white bread, the main thing i see the problem being is that i regularly don't eat breakfast... and when i do it's a few pieces of toast with vegemite.

what are low GI foods? breads? pasta? stuff like that??? i drink tea durning the day, so i don't really have that bad a dependence on caffeine.

i started taking the memory and concentration tablets from the health food stores, but they made little difference, i kept forgetting to take them (irnoy noted) and they were costing a fortune!

You need to eat breaky!!!! Blood sugar is low in the morning so you need a good solid carb meal to bring it up. What sort of bread do you eat? Wholemeal is just as bad as white.
You need multi-grain bread. Tip-top 9 grain is low gi.
Other low gi foods are oatmeal, bran cereals, brown rice, pasta, fruit, dairy.

notropics are 'smart drugs' ... they stop dopamine being metabolised, so you get more bang for your dopamine buck so to speak ... resulting in improved concentration and motivation.

I might invest in a toaster at work.

^ do. works for me. I was the same, it took a while, but now I have a solid brekky and a lighter dinner. Makes you have soooo much more energy and mental alertness during the day.

notropics - where do i get them... .are they legal?

Marzy

notropics - where do i get them... .are they legal? There are heaps of herbs and supplements that claim to have nootropic properties, but like anything legal they dont do shit and if ure gona fork out money for them u may as well get the pharmaceutical stuff (eg. deprenyl).

If u don't know any chemists or doctors then u can always just eat chocolate and drink coffee, they're supposedly natural nootropics :P

ok after two seconds 'research', Deprenyl treats Parkinsons, dementia & is purported to increase sex drive.
Apparently it also extends life-expectancy (o rly?)

Haven't looked into side effects yet.

Can it be bought otc ...?

U wish :)

And add to that list that it offers neuroprotection against brain damage caused by mdma.

Although of course nobody here would be interested in that :P

You can get nootropics imported from the states and other places for a fraction of the cost of buying locally even with the cost of shipping, especially if you but in bulk. I am on selegiline to help me get of dexamphetamines and I can say it is good shit. If you are savvy you can get a script out of your gp
