Prolific Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was last night unveiled by Newcastle United as the replacement for their retiring skipper Alan Shearer.

yeah sure newcastle have owen but to do anything in the premiership you need at least 3 top class strikers.

Righto. Yeah why would you possibly want the 2nd most prolific EPL striker in the past 5 years. Especially when he is at the old, old age of 29.

Why possibly have RvN when you've got Owen. Cause Owen's been sooo prolific.

By the way, anyone catch Shearer's memorial match this morning? Fixed penalty in injury time and on came the old legend for one more goal in front of the Geordies.

is no one getting i was joking. RVN would be an asset for any team. man the EPL thread has turned everyone stoopid.

also im gonna download the shearer testimonial and post a link. show some people whats its really like to have a hero for a team

cheers onetallpoppy. newcastle have been reliant too long on shearer, owen just hasn't been cutting the mustard. Ruud would be welcomed but realistically, we would need atleast 4 world class players to even think about challenging for the title.

Yeah, thats right. So dont buy him. Same goes for you scousers... Youre just down the road in need of a striker, Ruud probably wouldnt even have to move house.

I hope Rafa Benitiz doesnt read itm.

couple of highlights from the shearer testimonial. their are many faults in the geordie blind faith but this is not seen anywhere else in the EPL

All we need is for Roman to convince FIFA to modify the rules to combine with AFL. That way we can have 18 players on the pitch and have all the room for our midfielders and new strikers.

Although I think RVN will most likely go to scousers or geordies. Id prefer to see Tevez over Sheva solely because of his age, but Sheva and Drogba up front next season would be unstoppable, especially with Frank, Robben, J Cole, Claude et al behind them.

With the latest Milanese deliberations, I can see a Crespo + Gallas = Shevchenko deal coming...
