Ok Sydney-siders,
If we could drag all of your favourite Sydney DJ's from the past out for a one night event, with the likes of Sugar Ray, Phil Smart (and please give me a list of other DJ names you'd like to see) playing nothing but all the old skool fav's, where would you hold it and when?
I like the sound of bringing back the warehouse feel so I'm open to suggestions outside of the regular night-club venues. ;D

Does The Metro on George St still exist as a venue? I remember a "Flashback" party there years ago which was basically a bit of a 'rave reunion', it was a top night out! :)
Plus I really love that venue, lots of good memories there.
Also, trying to think a little different. I once went to a party inside the Musuem of Contempory Art (Circular Quay) they have this great function hall with marble floors and pillars. Not sure how someone managed to get it as a venue? Was another rocking party though!
oh and re when, it's got to be the first weekend in Nov as I'll actually be in town ;)

The Metro is an excellent venue and one that instantly sprung to mind also, unfortunately they now only have a 3am license.

Another great venue.. Sudeep (raving butterfly) managed to get this venue back in 95 for Johnny Vicious (still one of my all time favourite parties)

So what about the music and the DJ's - do we have ones who partcularly stood out for you back in the golden years?
Keep the idea's coming guy's... if I can generate enough interest this may actually happen!!!

Jeez I haven't seen Ming in years like since he was working at BPM on Oxford St. And Sheen made a brillant appearance at Instinct in 97 (again the last time I've heard from him).
Keep'm coming though.... I would definitely love to have an Eclipse line-up
Sugar Ray, Joe 90, Ming D, Abel, Jumping Jack and the list goes on....
So what about the tunes these guys were known for circa 90 to 94?

Don't know if it would be possible but would love to see Spellbound, Pee Wee, Nik Fish, Jade, Angus and the list goes on.

Another excellent venue, unfortunately I think they have built over the site. Something like the Agincourt with an out door in door facility would be great!!!

If you're after outdoor/indoor
the collector in parramatta is pretty decent, one wolrd in parra is ok also
Not sure of how big the max capacity is tho
Enmore springs to mind for me also
Maybe Fox Studios? Home Nightclub? The basement? Just throwing up places now, lol
Club marconi is pretty good. I can't remember what time upstairs closes nowadays though, it's been a while since i been up there.
I know alot of people around fairfield/bossley park/cabra area that would goto something like this at marconi :)
DJs:
Sheen
Hi-Shock

Jasper
Jasper's got a killer record collection of the early-to-mid-90s techno/trance sound. Comes highly rated.
We used to work together around '91 to '93, and he also played at a weekly night we ran in 1999. Haven't seen him now in 6 years.
You don't by any chance know Justin (Jasper) and/or have a contact details?
Cheers. :)
PS. AKA, you know this idea of yours might just work. I can think of a large crew that would rock along to such a shindig.

Hey Phil,
Yeah it's been generating a lot of interest. I need to lock down a venue though before the promoter pisses off to Melbourne to live.
Anyone got some good contact's for that warehouse or old skool type feel?
Enmore springs to mind for me also

G'day Mate
I don't know about Home, speaking to various people it doesn't seem to appeal to the older crews (but still an excellent venue and not to be written off)
The Horden/Fox Studio's have licensing and time restrictions, but still a possiblity if you can sort out insurance etc.
Keep'm coming guy's!!!! If you have any personal contact's please feel free to PM or email me.
What about something like Wharf 8 down at the rocks or one of the other Wharfs down that way?
I love the warehouse style/feel idea.
Diffrent rooms/areas would be cool, possibly different styles of music in the different rooms.
Would like to see a really cool chillout room with bean bags, video screens, smart drinks, water etc. (used to hate paying huge prices for water)
Maybe even a jumping castle () for some fun.
What other things would everyone like to see at this Party?
Cheers
M
Other places that spring to mind at the moment are:
Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre or Sydney Showgrounds

Nye 92-93 DNA productions
Warehouses in Alexandria are still fine, I've played at least 10 or 15 raves over the past year and a half in warehouses out there which got anything from 500 to 1300 or so people (yes, they still happen :P). Only one of them was shut down too, the rest ran all night no problems!
I do have a good contact for warehouses out there (he's the guy who organised all the aforementioned warehouses), let me know if you're seriously interested and I'll put you in contact with him.

Pee Wee Ferris
Abel
Sugar Ray

I would keep it a strictly 1990 to 93 music policy only(sorry younger ravers)

Breaks : Mach V (but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen...)
Venue: Maybe a venue that was used pretty heavily between 1990-95... But insurance might restrict using venues light Alexandria Basketball Stadium etc... I love the Horden, but that's way too big. A goody might be the Forum @ Fox Studios because it has that same feel, but smaller and it's licensed.

Oh wait it's only licensed til 2am... does that mean they could close the bar at 2am but the party could keep on rocking?
