Ok, was just talking to this fitness runner guy here at work and we were talking about getting abs.
He said the only way to be able to see the abs is if your body fat percentage is around 8%... you can get a flat stomach but to be able to see the muscles your body fat has to be way down....this means heavy dieting and training and dedication.
is this true???
i don't want chiseld abs, just a bit of shape would be nice i think ( btw i'm a chick )
:D :D :D
Its more around 12% I believe.
But yes, its true.
In most cases, you are better off jumping on a treadmill to lose the fat than lying on your back doing sit ups.

12% for girls...hmm interesting
i've been running on the treadmill for the last week and a half...i guess i'll start seeing results in weeks to come (I HOPE :D:D)
You're a girl?:?
I think it may be even higher (maybe 14%)...
I think im at around 13 at the moment, and i have a very prominent V, and the serratis (?) muscles on my ribs show... and thats about it
how can u calculate your percentage...do you need someone to measure you up properly and stuff? would people at my gym be able to do it?

Ask the people at your gym. Be prepared to be grabbed/pinched in multiple places with a pair of calipers though. You may think its a bit embarrasing at first, but there will always be someone out there that is worse than you are... and you can only get better if you're putting in the time at the gym!

i don't trust the people at my gym to measure me
all they do is sit around and watch the tv thats on...

I find the more sits up I do, the less defined they become; they just become more like a solid slab which really used to bulge out almost like a gut due to underdeveloped obliques
Now I've built the obliques up and cut down the fat further I've got a fairly decent 6 pack extending into an 8, don't ask me what % though
