Kiwi duo who do live music and visual sets which comprise of dark and dirty, deep and dubby electronica.
If not, you should check them out, they're fucking wicked (best live of course) but their CDs are dope too...chugging, hypnotic, spacey and weird!
There's tracks for downloading their site, and one live video from their gig at Sandwiches.

Well worth checking out if you're into your electronica, easily my fav live act from NZ (which says a lot cause frankly, we have some world class acts down there!)

They also do an unbelievably good remix on Salmonella Dub's Calming of the Drunken Monkey. :thumb:
Used to really like these guys when I was back in NZ but I guess I haven't heard much from them recently. Last I heard from them was a set at BDO Sydney a few years ago which I thought was pretty cool. Might have to download some of those tracks now... Rediscoverin' the roots!

Saw them @ Earthcore a few years back, they were unreal! I have one other albums - "Ape To Angel", and it's very good, but I wouldn't mind a few more, I'll check out the website, as I've had no luck finding their stuff in stores.

Excellent outfit! just the right mix of electronica and dubby goodness.
Only seen them live once, at the Beach Road Hotel a couple of years back - wicked set :)
Their albums are hard to track down, but keep seeking and ye shall find (picked up Futureproof 2nd hand somewhere for $10 last year...)
They did a superb remix of Salmonella Dub's "Conspiracy Dub" called "They're Among Us" which absolutely kicks - as DuncanM already said ;)
Totally agree, one of NZ's finest!

I certainly love Pitch Black's stuff; I first got onto his music when he played the late, great Gypsy Bar here in Canberra back in 1998 alonside Sal Dub...I think the latest I would have from him would be Ape To Angel. I would also rate him as a discernible influence on my own productions:)

Who can reccomend me some other electronica/dub type stuff? I've got a bunch of stuff from NZ and all of deepchild's stuff, but I'm looking for some Rhythm and Sound style digi-dub stuff. Did Jeff Dread only put out the two albums?

As far as I know Jeff Dread only did two albums - but I seem to remember seeing a compilation around that had his name on it? Maybe check Creative Vibes website.
Digi-dub - did I mention International Observer (NZ) to you? I think I did - I played a track of theirs at Green Beats, you probably told me whether you knew them but I can't recall now :)
Older local digi dub stylee - you could check out Sheriff Lindo's album from the mid 80s, was reissued on Creative Vibes a few years back.

Sheriff Lindo?
Is that the guy who made some dubby guest appearance tunes on that "Itchee an Scratchie and Friends" album?

Ha, I actually gave that compilation to my brother for christmas a few years back. I'll have to borrow it. I'll have to get some more international observer too.
For those interested: I just got nz dub/soul types rhombus' remix album to review. Is good.

Could well be - he's a Sydney based producer.

I only have the recent Int Observer album "Seen" - they do have some older material too (in fact they did a Pitch Black remix that appears on the PB Futureproof album - which ties in nicely with the original theme of this thread! ;D
look forward to reading your review too.

Ooh, The Nomad and The Versionaries as support in Sydney! So psyched for this one.

Anyone else go to this? Pitch Black put on a great show, and it was good to catch The Nomad as well. The Versionaries rocked it to about 7 people, they always still put on a good showing though.
Picked up Rude Mechanicals today ... V Nice
Yeah, it is a great album..... might be their best effort to date IMO, but I need to go back & listen to the others again ;)

Was bummed I couldn't go to this, especially seeing as they play here so infrequently.
Glad to hear it was a good night.
