It can't really be over 15 years since my first rave! It was Tribal party (held in conjunction with Mike J and his crew) in the grain silos at Pyrmont near the fish markets. I'll have to dig out my folders full of flyers one of these days.

Ahhh, them was the days ... Tribal, Nick the Techno Terrorist, Technogroove on 2RES, Radio Skid Row, Prodigy parties, 0055 numbers (do you remeber them!), Munch Productions (Tony & Leonie where are you?), The Hardcore cafe, Juicy Red Apple (all hail Luke and Kate), RRAG, Dave Coxon, Musiquarium, Happy Valley 2 and 3, Sunrise, Prodigy 4 Outdoor, The Grafitti Hall of Fame, Zoom and Raving Butterfly on a Wednesday (hiya Sudeep), the Kings Head Tav on a Friday night *sigh* And my own parties with the Buck Rogers Ravers *sigh*

I always have a tear in my eye when I drive through Alexandria and Mascot these days

Yep, I am sure alot of people feel the same way. I know that if I drive past a place I went to a rave in or at I smile, but feel sad (nostalgic) inside at the same time.

Ah the good old days. :D

Funny how things go, When I was raving around 93-96 (I was a late starter of around 27 yo), I remember people back then talking how much better the Old Skool days were. My younger Brother was one of them

hey are you friends with john koumo & blocka et al?

RadioDog

Ahhhhhh! I haven't seen Kouma is years. Bloxta is now married in Bris with a baby daughter! Can you believe it! I went to school with all those guys, and was one of the founding Buckies. I haven't seen John the Sneaky Greek (BDO a couple of years ago?) or Michael Bogoevski.

And who may you be sasha_p?

There's a great thread with old flyers and there's a pic taken at one of Brett Mavric's parties at the Volleyball centre at Homebush. I think it was Mijk Van Dijk and Hardsequencer. But I found myself in it!

Morning at the harder parties was always devoid of females. You'd have to have a back2back2back anthems morning set with Jade, Akira, Spellbound and Paul Holden for the girlies (not that I didn't enjoy a bit of hands-in-the-air, tinkly, Italo-piano!).

Ahhh, back in the day

hey robbo is that john koumo in the blue shirt 2 people to the left of you??? (your right in the photo, next to the guy in the white shirt with his arms in the air)

and me? i'm nobody :P

i went to uni with koumo's cousins and met him and block and a few others through them..., a lot of my interest in the old scene stems from meeting him and ronnie bouziotis (i guess you also know him if you all went to school together?) one night about 6 or 7 years ago...,

john and ronnie have been somewhat of an inspiration to me over the years..., i've learnt a lot about how i want to live my life (especially with regard to travel) from them, they are good guys.

koumo is now a chemical engineer (ironic hey :P) working all over the world.

Ahhh the Sneaky Greek. I think he's into "search engine optimisation" now.

I hope it wasn't all those bulbs with Monty :tripping: I remember the night of Mayday out at homebush was Operation Noah! But, wow, Prodigy were some of awesome parties. Nice one Mr Mavric. I remember I f**ked my ears totally for a fortnight after Prodigy 4 Outdoor, dancing on a speaker all night.

Yes, Horst, I remember all the old AusRavers - Shermozle, Jason, DJ Vic. Hey Horst remember when getting on the internet meant a VT-100 terminal and a 2400 baud modem? But I wonder who else is around? I don't bump into as many of the old ravers as I used to.

I was at that Mayday party in the pic, it was way too crowded, but pretty good all the same. So anyway Rob, you were involved obviously in A Perfect World? I remember that party (all the themed rooms!) quite clearly. The strobing fluffy clouds and water fountain in the chillout room, and the big banner in the hardcore room stolen from the RTA - How fast are you going now? :)

Could that have been at Pleasuredome (feat. Slipmatt)??? Or was it Perfect World?

Also, didn't the same banner made an appearance at Angincourt/HardcoreCafe, at Jurassic Rave???

Vic posts here as Swarm, and Simon has been living in London for the last 6 years, but is over it now and is coming back in nov, I didn't really know Jason.

Of the bucky fossils I still see Mike McGrath who is Fabmacca here, and his mate David Espinoza occasionally.

Re: the "how Fast ARe you going now?"banner - it made it's first appearance at Astral Flight, jeez I loved that party. Big ups to anyone who went. It as heaps of fun putting that one on. And the banner made repeat appearance at the other two parties. I actually quit the Buck Roger Ravers about a week before A Perfect World ... The Buckies' world wasn't all that perfect. And by the way the original Buckies were John the Sneaky Greek, Steve Bloxta, Michael B, Mark and myself. BRR R.I.P. But we did have a really huge crew ... By the way, that particular banner came off a bridge over the Princes Hwy at Sylvania!

I miss the old parties. Clubs just don't have the same vibe. Calling 0055 numbers at 11pm, huge tin warehouses pulsing with the beat, huge moving rigs with all sorts of scans and lasers, getting messy outside the party in the gutter with a group of strangers, bouncy scaffolding, cheesy sunrise sets, Tracey Bourkle the laser goddess (and Dr Geoff Rose), DJ's dancing ...

After reading these forums for the past couple of weeks I'm soooo keeen to have a boogie! But I'm not really into the clubs these days ... where do all you old farts go? Maybe we should start our own old-skool night somewhere ;)

(What was the party in Alexandria somewhere, held in some artist studio-like place where the white back wall gentle curved down to meet the floor (like a skate board ramp/bowl)???)

Astral Flight was the first party for the Buck Rogers Ravers. it was only ever meant to be small but it kinda ballooned out as we got more excited. Astral Flight was held the weekend after the Easter Long Weekend of 1994, we thought it would be a good weekend, not competing againt anyone else. I think it was either Prodigy5 or Alfabet Soup the week before.

Finding any venue in Sydney was difficult back then in 1994 because the Mayor of South Sydney, Vic Smith, had started his campaign to get rid of raves in his area. But we found an underground car park on Parramatta Rd, Camperdown. Nice. And with the support RRAG (the Ravers' Rights Action group) we went ahead to put it on.

it was a dingy little subterranean car park, barely big enough for the 1000 people we got. Looked fricken awesome with the two huge lasers and roof filled with mirrors! Even stacked each wall with podiums and stages. Punos chillout and even a hardcore room.

But it had such a great vibe. I loved that party. *sigh* I think I'm having a mid-life crisis ...

Cheers for the details...

...so it was a different carpark than the one used for Peak later that year in September?

Not sure I went, and interesting you say it was Easter, as I was pretty sure Prodigy 5 was on the Easter weekend, hence my paranoid interrogation at the relative bash the day or so afterwards.

EDIT: Scrap the last paragrah... re-read your bit about it being the week *after* Easter, and not on Easter itself.

I'm having a mid life crisis reading your post! I remember going to Astral Flight (unfortunately and very regrettably, details are (very) hazy), though I was there.

Such good times....I'm glad I'm not the only one getting misty eyed in this forum ;)

It'd be awesome to try to get an old venue for a party...

I really don't go out unless I go out with my work friends after a long hard week. Clubs are so... bleh.

I would LOVE to go to a reall good OLD school reunion...

this thread has brought back many memories thanx guys..... i used to love to take photos back in the days and i was considered the unofficial photographer of parties... im planning to scan all my material and put it up onto my blog for all to see..... heaps of parties heaps of memories... the buckies put on some great parties which ill never forget and its good to see the flame still burns inside a lot of us...

i think a lot of planning and putting heads together to accomplish an old school reunion might pull it off... if it gets done it will have to be done right...... and quite possibly will have to even be a one off who knows....

anyway guys love reading your threads keep them coming. :)

Ah, the memories, some gold, some gooey.

It's Marty B here, from back when it was just B on Skid Row on a Wed nite (Pitch Control).

1stly big big hug to Rob the Dog, and inherent hugs also to the BRR family, espesh the one behind A Perfect World - what a gig, i STILL have it on VHS, has anyone else done a DVD convert yet?

INFUSION, on stage, midnight, with fireworks, back when they had the original Clan-based lineup, back when they had a different sound as such, and before Jamie busted his spine in Brighton..

..here they are, over a decade later, kicking the We Love Sound fest with style, so i hear.

If anything, i would bring back A Perfect World EXACTLY the way it was, and show this next gen a thing or two about the power of rave.

Back to my greying (daddy) hairs, now mashing up anything i can get hold of,
