Ok its 4pm and i am lagging at work and want a caffeinne hit. Now normally would hit up a coffee but for some reason am hanging for a coke.

Now looking at my Coke zero it says its has sweet F all energy or calories. So are they actually a miricale drink (i do realise should be having water but lets run with this for a minute) or are they actually the demonised soft drink i believe them to be???

I know they have artifical sweetners but are they just the same as other sugars in terms of weight gain masquerading as healthy alternatives etc the energy information would seem to indicate that they wont increase weight gain and sugars are also non existant.

So does anyone know?

No the sugars wont kill you, they do have zip calories, the chemicals etc you ingest are another issue.

/sips on sugarfree V

They don't have any calories. They're just an expensive caffeine hit.
Artificial sweetners are fine for most of the population. There's a VERY small percentage of people who shouldn't be having phenylanaline and you would know if you were one of them. For the rest, if you drink 10 cans you might at worst get the runs.

It's fine to drink ... although make sure for every one you drink, have an extra glass of water to counteract the diuretic effect of the coke.

would you believe london has only JUST got coke zero in the shops. like in the last 2 weeks. i've been dying here with this diet coke crap.

i am sure all the chems in coke zero are seriously unhealthy but when you are addicted to coke like i am, its good to know youre not drinking 12 teaspoons of sugar with every can consumed.

Excellent so i can enjoy my afternoon caffiene hit realatively guilt free. I always assumed there must be some trade off, which i was missing. If it has zero sugars and no calories then why do you taste so good.

I thought Coke Light and Diet Coke are the same thing, but it was called Coke Light in Europe because Europeans thought you had to be fat to be drinking Diet Coke.

I also changed from coke to coke zero
I can barely handle drinking normal coke now, the taste of sugar is horrid just from a sip

but yeah doesnt seem to impact loosing weight, even when im not having that cup of sugar from a 2litre bottle everyday now

really? i really preferred the coke light in europe over diet coke.... diet coke i find has that Equal-sugar taste whereas i thought the coke light tasted more like real sugar! I could have been delerious on my europe trip though and found anything tasted good
