No but I cant wait to! From what i heard its getting very conflicting reviews, some praising the shit outr of it, others utterly dissapointed.... i'll just have ta wait n see for myself

Yeah...can't wait boyyo. Keen to hear if he's kept on keeping on.....as they say, you gotta progress and upgrade in the new dates.

ok47
29-Apr-02, 05:24pm
apparently the focus for him (shadow) is not so much to "progress and upgrade" but to produce what he does best... and thats all good for me. he's got a great style and if it falls short of upgarding then it probably won't bother me too much, but thats just my biased opinion.

i can see why it would get mixed reviews because of this, anyway can't wait.

Optimus Rhyme
29-Apr-02, 05:34pm
If its in pretty much the exact same vain as entroducing, i'll be happy.... if hes progressing, i'll be happy.... i honestly dont see him churning out shitty product myself.....

Yes, very true....I'd personally have to agree with both statements, but I feel Pre-emptive Strike was a better album than Endtroducing, even if Endtroducing broke all moulds...all in all I wouldn't expect anything but quality of the highest order....

Optimus Rhyme
29-Apr-02, 05:57pm
for sure.

I like pre-emptive, but entroducing is unbeatable to me.... "changeling" is probably my fav song, ever.

ok47
29-Apr-02, 06:20pm
organ donor on preemptive (so much body) is where its at for moi.

tried to keep that song going in my head all day once and ended up doing head contortions from trying to make the sounds.

heh, much better to listen to than to reinterpret the sounds.

Optimus Rhyme
29-Apr-02, 06:22pm
Yeah, but although its a extended version on pre emptive, Organ Donor was originally on Entroducing anyway

i don't really know much about Rap or Hip Hop, but i like Eminem. I like his new song (even though he does bag out Moby!) I've got the Marshall Mathers LP and i loved it to bits...

What does your soul look like ?.

Absolute Classic !!. Gotta love everything he has done from Influx to his latest efforts with Cut Chemist - Brainfreeze and Product Placement !! Slurp Slurp !!.

I was lucky enough to see him on the original MoWax tour in 1994 ?! and the Planet ( now the infamous Dolls House ! ) and at Homelands in the UK in 1998. The second occasion was a classic mid afternoon set with some classic hip hop, spot on scratching and some UNKLE choons thrown in for good measure. You can probably get hold of the set on Audiogalaxy, I have got a copy for prosperity !!.

The album is called "The Private Press" and the first single "You Can't Go Home Again" is apparently available on the net !. Good luck I couldn't find it !.

Check It !

i must be the most unlucky person. ive tried to buy product placement for ages now since i saw it on hiphopsite.com when it first came out.. always a fuck up.

Optimus Rhyme - although organ donor was originally on entroducing, the better version is on preemptive, but thats just me... doesn't matter which one came first

You are talking about gangsta Rap, which I hate as much as you do, I love real, conscious, artistic, musically rich hip-hop, u are simply ignorant of such a concept, so shut up and move on. You are not funny. Repeat, NOT funny....
Hip-hop is nopt all "Yo homie G, whattup thus i got my gat to bust them fools".... thats gangsta rap, one tiny facet of hiphop i ignore, so what your point

basschild
09-May-02, 05:39pm
word up Optimus !

Bring on the conscious hip hop !.

Jurassic 5, Black Eyed Peas, Beatnuts, London Posse, Eric b & Rakim, Aim, Only Child, Dj Shadow, Z-Trip, Souls of Mischief.....

I could go on forever ! fuck that Gangsta Shit !!

dont bother optimus - gfunk is trying to stir again. he probably knows hip hop better than you do.

has anyone heard "rare equations" - a 45 min cut chemist mix. check it out if you can find it - i rate it over brainfreeze or product placement.

basschild
09-May-02, 05:57pm
Where can i put my hands on one of those ?, when was it recorded ?

I rate both Brainfreeze and Product Placement and listen to another mix i've got of Cut Chemist and Shortkut at Future Primitive ( club in US ) so bring it on !!!.

Oh I forgot Mark B & Blade on my list b4......

Optimus Rhyme
09-May-02, 06:16pm
LOL, youre right, i wont bother... tho i doubt he knows more than me :p

hes just well, a bit of a tool, I love a stir aswell, but some humour wouldnt go astray....

thats a good list, basschild... if you havent already, check out J-Live's new album "All of the ABove".... if you dont honestly rate it a 9/10 ill kill myself :D

"keep it real, represent what?.......my nuts."

Gangsta rap rules boyyo...just don't take it serious...it's funny as. I love all forms of hip hop, just seems smart/conscious hip hop is trendy right now...but seriously how conscious is Jurassic 5 anyway? PE were the one and only for that kind of shit, and even then, can you directly relate to it?...Mate if it sounds good it probably fukken is. Just listen...flows...structure....rhythm...rhyme. You aint the music...just enjoy. There is some of the filthiest, funky breaks in gansta rap and people will just say its shit coz of some "hard"?! lyrics. Fuck it man, it suits, it fits....it's a form of storytelling. Its not real. People who love funk should do well to just treat shit like the Geto boys the same way they'd treat a horror movie...or similar. Check that shit out...ignore the lyrics if you want...I used to love that shit. Ice Cube...same...hard as fuck...not coz of what he says...but the way he tells the story to that crazy as fuck banging, jacking hip hop. Sure I like Shadow etc too...but each and every occasion calls for each and every style.

;D

well said, easeback

i think a lot of hip hop fans try to distance themselves from the gangsta shit, cos people use it against hip hop as a whole. you cant surgically remove one section of hip hop, saying that it is somehow different, just cos you dont wanna be associated with it. take ice cube's album 'lethal injection' - u got hardass tracks like ghetto bird, cave bitch and enemy, next to stonking "real" hip hop tracks like bop gun and really doe. the new vein of hip hop could not have come about without all that NWA dopeness, so why deny it?

"hey yo, kick dat gangsta shit. c'mon, we gotta kick dat gangsta shit. what? what?"

The Private Press has been available in it's entirity for at least a month now... it's good but it's no Endtroducing IMO.

I just picked up Sage Francis' "Personal Journals" the other day, and it kicks ass. It's all about Anticon, Def Jux, Saul Williams and Outkast these days! ;D

Anyone know anything about the rumours of Outkast or Cannibal Ox heading over here this year?
