I'm having a party which is BYO but I thought I'd assist people getting a bit more drunker on the cheap. Has anyone got any punch recipes that are cheap and wont kill people. I know how grotty Passion Pop is but its so cheap I can get my whole neighbourhood pissed.

Sangria sounds expensive. And remember I'm appealing to a mass market crowd here they dont want no eurowank.
 eurowank.
try bombora, pasion pop, cask goon (fruity lexia), frigget rum... then a variety of fruit juices... pineapple, apple orange, etc etc... maybe even a can of diced peaches.
if everyone isn't blind drunk or spewing after that, then start having boat races with it

OK, this killed everyone at my 21st:
4L tin of pineapple juice. 4L cask of white wine. Bottle of cheap vodka. 2L bottle of lemonade. 2 tins of fruit salad mix. Large cup of gummy bear lollies.
Make sure each scoop gets a bit of alcohol-soaked gummies and fruit, it's the drink you eat with a spoon, and the result is :rainman:

I don't go the gummies, sounds odd but the basic punch is what i've been making for years with one little difference -> i reckon use ginger ale (not beer) instead of the lemonade. Its way better. Also its nice to chuck in some mint leaves as well. I don't put so much fruit in either, but each to their own.

oh god - PLEASE for the love of god - leave passion pop out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you can buy litre bottles of omni that, sure, are a more expensive but it means you won't have people projectile vomiting bright pink bile and fruity fizz all over your house.
you have been warned.

As mentioned above the hero is Sangria, especially with Spring on the horizon. Its dead easy to make because there isn't actually a recipe as such. Sangria is a concept drink rather then a specific concoction, and the fun lies in working within whats available or in your imagination. You can get away with dirt cheap wine but obviously the better you use, the better it tastes. If you want to add some muscle then add some rakija (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakija), preferably šljivovica, if you can find and afford it. Very strong and the flavour wont skew the wine and fruit, though obviously very good quality vodka would suit as a second choice.
Id like to try a sangria focusing on stone fruit like peaches, some good gin and probably grapefruit or something else complimentary... mmmmm.... i suppose a white sangria using sauv blanc? Hurry up Summer!

Iced tea is a good adition to any punch, maybe with a bit of peach nectar and crushed mint, and cheap white wine or champas and voddy. Maybe a bit of triple sec.

For all the uni bums out there, letting you in on a student pisshead secret.
alcobase (this is normally used for people to make their own spirits/liquors at home, but its fairly average for that purpose in Australia as distilling it further is illegal)
all you need is a 30l beer fermenter (home brew kit), a bag of turbo yeast & a heap of brewers dextrose.
after a couple of weeks you have 25 litres of 20% alcohol. however, it doesn't taste too flash, its best if you filter it through carbon/charcoal after this.
The best way to drink it is in punch mixed up with a couple of big cans of juice.
Once everyone is pissed enough, you will find your mates doing shots of it then throwing up, but it's all good fun and CHEAP, really, really CHEAP.
Ask at your nearest homebrew shop about alcobase, they can hook you up with all you need.
So there you go, eddie's student alco tip for the day.

As I said, this is a tip for uni students... although, I'm not that sure all uni students are that poor anymore, most of them seem to live at home these days :P

Vanilla essence, a bottle of cough syrup and a bottle of old spice aftershave and hey presto...
Seriously though... forget the Passion Pop. Surely cask wine (much of which is quite decent these days), some home brand lemonade and juice and some in season fruit's got to be better than Passion Pop.
