What are your faves? Pianos can be bland as ass but the best ones trump any pompous trance riff out there. This is not so much for the riff itself but how good it sounds with everything else too.

- NRG - You got me
- Midas - Groove Controll
- Yolk - Music 4 da people (Poached Mix)
- Billy Bunter - New Sensation Remix
- Ultrasonic - I just cant stop (1997 i know but its from a 1992 tune so neer)
- Rhythm is Rhythm - Strings of life (Been used heaps)
- Bizarre Inc - Playing with knives (ditto 'strings of life)
- Urban Hype - Trip to trumpton
- Alk ED - Home (Original mix)
- Utah Saints - Something good (I know theres a good hardcore rip of this somewhere... what is it?)
- Praga Khan - Injected with a poison
- ? (Dunno it but its got that 'Dance, dance, dance, dance' vocal and the piano is out of an old kniteforce tune)
- Jimmy J & Cru-LT - Cant you see

God, loads of favorites!

Ok, the tune from Ham - Jump 2 Da Groove. I know that's a new song, but I recognise it from something old, and I'm pretty sure pre-1995.

If anyone can help me out with the original song I'd be grateful...?

The best piano riff off all time, for me, is no contest:

Dj Demand - Dark & Light (Jimmy J & Cru-L-T Remix). One of my favourite tunes of all time and the one I'd rate as the best happy breakbeat tune ever released. The vocal is also brilliant, I don't know where it originally came from (a pop song I'd imagine) but it was also used in '92 in a harder breakbeat tune (pretty much the UK Hardcore sound of that era) called Can You See The Light by the Nu NRG Rhythm Team. I think SNAP! also did a version of those vocals too?

Runner Up:

Dyewitness - The Future. I agree with whoever said it, the piano break is is a 10/10. That riff was the Nightraver's work if memory serves me correct.

Pick a song, and I'll (attempt to) explain the notes behind it.

We had a piano in our rental apartment back in '94 where I used to have fun bashing out Dyewitness's "The Future"!

EDIT: And screaming out, "THIS... IS.... THE... FUTURE..... DO.... YOU..... UNDERSTAND??????!!!!!!!!!!!!" over the top.

For my addition to this thread.. it'd have to be "Together - Hardcore Uproar". I hear the couple who made the track were killed in a car crash in the early 90s not long after their success, which is why there aren't many tracks done by them. Superbly crafted euphoric piano heaven.
