Ebay!
This site has reviewed pretty much every camera on the market. You can buy online too but I imagine you could probably find better prices in stores.

Go to Teds on Pitt Street, tell them you have gotten a price of $x and they will do a deal, especially if you pay cash!

depends what you want... you can now get olympus and pentax 6mp point and shoots with 3 x optical zoom for less than $200. Get one which takes SD cards, most versatile format.

I got a staff discount price from Harvery Norman on a camrea and this place still sold the camera i wanted cheaper than that.
Most "online only" stores will be cheaper as cameras take up a fair bit of floorspace. Decide on the camera you want then check where you can get it cheapest online.
I bought one from www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au too, they were pretty cheap and very quick in getting the camera delivered out to me.
Check reviews on websites such as www.dpreview.com before making a purchase. They'll always point out any negative points to all the cameras.

For my last two digital camera I have managed to time the purchases perfectly with a friend's holiday OS. One was bought in Dubai, and one in Japan. You get a much better price, and I never regretted either purchase. You can get worldwide warrenties with them as well.

Hey did you get a digital SLR by any chance?
I'm thinking of doing the same as you and purchasing it overseas to save a whole lot of mullah but was really worried about the lack of warranty. They'd probably have the same for SLR's too yeah?

No SLR for me. Just a happy snappy SONY. My most recent camera is the Cyber Shot DSC-N1.
However my friend who got me my first SONY from Dubai, (Smack Bob for those who remember him) did buy some equipment for his SLR at a good price. I think he always orders his stuff from OS. so I don't think there is an issue. Photography equipment from ebay often comes from OS with warranties and the such!

jctech.com.au
get all the geniune accessories on ebay.

hey Kimmah!
Yeah I am working as a photographer now and buy LOTS of pro gear,
If I can afford to wait for the delivery B&H is ussually MUCH cheaper, if it's soemthing small and I want it now D-D is next best, plus I can go round pick it up off them they are like 5 minutes down the road, and they have everything in stock stacked to the ceiling, plus they don't just deal in consumer stuff they have alot of pro gear there at good prices, 1ds MKII for about $9,000!!!! (used to be around $16K or $18K).
As for reccomndations look at the Olympus 725SW it is very small and slim, has an excellent sensor that produces great images and it is waterproof to 5m you can take photos underwater etc....awesome camera

If you purchase over seas you will recieve an international warranty, this means if anything goes wrong your camera needs to be sent back to japan or whatever and takes a lot longer to repair. If you buy here, you will most likely recieve an Australian warranty which means it will be repaired here in Aus, but more often than not you usually just recieve a new replacement for whatever you returned.
I think you can really bargain well in Harvey Norman. I bought my first DSLR 2 years ago and saved like 600 bucks because the bloke is willing to beat the price of other stores.
DigitalCity, Paxtons and Teds are usually more expensive and try to lure customers through photo print coupons. Especially DigitalCity, their customer service is not that pleasing, at least from my experience.
I bought my latest equipment through ebay. Yes, it's hard to trust internet there is a chance that your product may not arrive at all, but stick with the reputable sellers with high positive feedback ratio, and you'll be alright.
well sometimes jbhifi might have on sale the model that you're after....
but def camera farm as well. they used to run laptopfarm (all other comp gear) and I was buying gear from them. they were quick to get the order in as well.
