we can't have threads solely for one specific track unfortunately, as it's been made clear to us mods recently that we are to keep the right topics in the right forums, so here is a single thread dedicated to it :)

The voice and the album cover on Strings Out reminded me of Dead Cities era FSOL - are they an inspiration or is that just coincidence?
I like the cellos, I think they want a bit of compression to fatten them up? The hihats could be louder too, altho Myspace roots the high frequencies so who can say?

Sax ed reminds me of that Andrew Pekler ~scapey school of music - very nice. Is that you playing these instruments? Tis awesome when the rides come in :thumb:

1213 is awesome :D those eerie strings are sensational! This could have evolved into some dark dubstep I reckon.

rqa - hehe, again with the record crackle (iZotope Vinyl?) and that's some serious bass that comes in...

Would like to know if people think this is releasable. It had to be converted to 112 kbps cos its an epic (infact whole track is 18 minutes)t you only get the 10 min version.

This track has a history dating back about 13-14 years ago... It was around then that the music was created in my Melbourne recording studio in collaboration with a couple of friends. It soon drew comparisons to Portishead's 'Glory Box' which was just breaking around that time but I hadn't heard Glory Box yet, actually the inspiration was more from listening to Massive Attack's Safe From Haem and Pink Floyd's 'Great Gig In The Sky' and Pink Floyd... I was never convinced with the original lyrics and melody I had come up with but always loved the track.. Many years later while I was based in LA I started a collaboration with a very talented signer-songwriter named Shalein. We formed a project called AREA 27 and she wrote the lyrics and Melody for 'Balck Sun" and the song has since become a signature tune for AREA 27. In a bizarre twist of fate the excellent backing vocals are provided by Durga McBroom who was a backing vocalist for Pink Floyd on three world tours.

Black Sun has been selected as a finalist in the 8th Annual Independent Music Awards – Dance/Electronica Song category. I think all this shows that good music doesn't date easily and can have a long shelf life

trajectory - crossing genres is one of those things that sometimes just sounds right. with traces of stewart copeland, william orbit and arvo part, trajectory is a short trip through deep space. turn up the bass, put the headphones on and follow the trajectory.

i like it. sounds fresh. love the glitchy krunky beat. Synths remind me a bit of Kraddy's style. Only thing is ..u got the same bassline rolling all teh way through and could vary that but cos you do some nice breakdowns and have nice synth high and mid it works.

After a short hiatus Strontium is back with a collaboration from label owner Youthful Implants and Melbourne's own beat freaker Nimble. Fusing jazzy keys, delicious vocals courtesy of Eliza Hull and Stacey Gardiner and a warm, bassline-driven groove - this is a dub-flavoured, experimental yet tuneful excursion.

On remix duties we brought in Spanish breakbeat whizzkid Deenk who turns out an electro-styled big-room breaks banger with fantastic production, making great use of the vocal.

To complete the package another Melbournite, Jordan de Graaf, delivers a sophisticated, techier and housier interpretation which should work well on floors which favour stompier beats and lush FX.
