I went to Perfecto at the docks on Monday night along with some other eight thousand people.
I was hyped up for an amazing night, as it turned out my expectations were completely superceded.
Chicane were amazing, their set creating a charged, almost "religious" atmosphere.
By the time Oakenfold came on the warehouse at the docks was completely packed and buzzing in anticipation. He played a brilliant set with some amazing remixes - U2's - Beautiful Day, Radiohead - Street Spirit, and some other wicked track using the Star Wars Theme.
He peaked the crowd over and over again with torrential build ups followed by savage peaks that left the whole warehouse screaming, shouting, jumping, with hands thrown in the air.
I would have to say it was one of the best events I have ever attended, shouts out to the crew at Future Entertainment who continue to stage amazing parties at the BEST VENUE in Australia, the Docks.

The Docks the best venue in Australia? @!#$, I've just pissed myself laughing for the past 5 minutes at that outrageous comment.

The Flower Centre in Footscray beats the Docks hands fucking down. The Docks are a joke, thank god they will be knocked down so very soon. Good riddance I say!

I heard that Chicane was a let down, as was Oakie. But Breeder was incredible and was easily the best set of the night by far

the only people that thought chicane were a let down were those that were not at the party.

Im a big Oakie fan, but I think his set drifted too much. He tried to adjust his style to suit the crowd. The only older tracks he played were the ones he's playing every since Tranceport, and the newish stuff was mixed at best.

I thought Chicane sucked. No offence, but I don't go to a rave to hear a live band. Maybe the fact that I was at the back for that had something to do with it, but he was playing too much crappy breakbeat inbetween. Once again, I love Chicane's music, and he could play a mean 3 hour set made up purely of his remixes of other people's tracks and still blow everyone away if he wanted. *That's* what I wanted to hear... I got a mix of his from a set in Germany, and he played mainly instrumental mixes of his some of his bigger tracks, and that rocked. Ahhhhhh well!

Missed Breeder which was a shame, but I would prefer a party with a line-up ressembling the one at the last Two Tribes than two huge names like for the Perfecto tour. Good night overall, just not as much as I was expecting!!

I strongly agree with you there brett. The flower centre in footscray is the best I've ever been to.. beats the docks easily.>!! why isn't the flower centre used more often?? its such a great venue!!

with the oakenfold stuff.. I'm not much of a trance dude...but from listening to the set thru radio broadcast.. oakenfold's set was a disappointment.. however chicane played a pretty good set.!

I DID go to the Docks to see a live band (Chicane) and I DID love 'em!.....they were tight, soulful and strong and if you couldn't get into them, I venture your mind is a little TOO closed these days....a really nice change from the usual out there at the Docklands...

Hypnose: you hit it right on the head. An awesome night. In fact, reading your review brough it all back to me....shivers.....the peak in that set was simply outstanding and I'll be happy skipping all the big NYE parties this year after Oakenfold's set.......Why chase the tail?
